Chapter 8
I took Edwin to the meeting room. I was really worried he would say something strange. It would make other people misunderstand.
“What do you want to tell me? I don’t think we have anything to talk about.”
Edwin forced a smile. “Bertha, I’ve been wanting to explain to you.
“Priscilla was our childhood friend. We all promised to only be good to her. But I married you later. I felt guilty about it, so I chose to favor Priscilla. But now I’ve realized I love you. I didn’t love her anymore.
“You know what? I got the DNA test results. It’s my child! You don’t know how happy I was when I knew it. Actually, I always wanted to have a child with you. When I found out you might have a child with someone else, I was so jealous and almost went crazy.”
I interrupted him loudly, “That’s all because of you! Did you forget everything you did? It was you who sent me to sleep with another two men. So do you mean I should thank you for allowing me to have a child?
“Edwin, I don’t owe you anything!”
Edwin said guiltily, “I was wrong, Bertha. I was really wrong. It’s all my fault.”
His eyes suddenly lit up and he said, “I’ve already sent Priscilla to jail! She took the photos and sent them to the auction. I didn’t protect her. She’s already being punished. Can’t this prove I love you more than her? Can’t this prove I’m sincere to admit my mistake?”
I sneered and stared at Edwin’s eyes. “How can you still sit here and talk to me?”
“What?”
“You drugged me, found other people to rape me, took my photos, and caused me so much trouble. How can you not go to jail?” I said louder, getting closer to him.
“You were so sincere and honest in admitting your mistake. You should send yourself to prison!”
Edwin was forced to sit on the ground, unable to say a word.
When you ruined someone’s life, you could do it easily. But when it’s your turn, you can’t do it?”
He stammered, “No! It was my parents who made me do it…
I laughed and applauded. “Oh, I didn’t know you were such an obedient son. Your parents told you to be nice to me and asked you to stay away from Priscilla. Why didn’t you listen to them then? What a good son!”
I knew Edwin couldn’t face the facts, so I forced him to hear it.
He cried, “How can you forgive me?”
I looked down at him. “Invading someone’s privacy, asking many people to commit crimes of rape, buying illegal drugs, how many years will you be sentenced?”
Edwin was shocked. “More than ten years, less than twenty.”
I crouched down and slapped him. “Now, you should have known how I could forgive you. Get out.”

Edwin almost crawled away.
My dad looked in the direction Edwin left and asked, “What happened to him?”
I blinked at my dad. “Your daughter scared him off!”
