After that day, Leah started to get better, and I took everyone who hurt
her to court.
I told Leah. “Sweetheart. I’ve got your back, and I’ll make sure you get what’s fair.”
The little one didn’t fully get it but snuggled up to me, calling me “Mom” in a cute voice.
Faced with hefty compensation, those parents came to my doorstep. pleading bitterly for reconciliation.
Some even brought their kids and laid into them right there.
“Why would you bully Leah? You bastard!”
The kids bawled their eyes out.
“Ms. Parrish, we’ve taught our kids a lesson. Can’t you just let it go? We’re begging you!”
But I didn’t budge.
I would never forgive anyone who hurt Leah.
As for Antonio, Sophia, and Jacob, they couldn’t even leave their house
now.
The internet was all over it, with people online saying Antonio was a backstabbing traitor and Jacob was just like him.
Every day, people would show up at their house to throw stinky eggs and
splash red paint.
But that wasn’t all.
In just a few days, I filed for divorce, initiated a lawsuit to recover marital property, and accused Antonio of misappropriating company assets by exploiting his position.
Antonio tried to go to the office, but they had taken his access card, so he was stuck outside.
He used to think he was some big shot, better than everyone else.
Now, the Sunwing Group had fired him, and other companies wouldn’t hire someone as shameless as him.
He tried to reach out to his old buddies at work, thinking he could start his own thing, but they just ignored him and blocked him.

He yelled his head off, “I’m the man here and the general manager of the Sunwing Group! Don’t you dare touch me!”
Nobody cared or looked his way. They just pushed him out.
The divorce trial started soon, and people online were talking about it again.

Antonio’s affair was awful and made a huge mess in public, so he got kicked out with nothing.
He didn’t like it, causing a ruckus in court, and the judge had him restrained by the bailiffs.
People online were saying things like, “This is great!”
“He’s getting what he deserves!”
“Bah! Good riddance!”
Then, in the case about Antonio stealing company money, they had enough proof to put him in jail for a few years.
A few days later, he stopped my car on the way to work.
He was haggard, unshaved, his hair nearly half–gray, no longer the spirited person who once stood high and sought after.
He was sort of hunched over, finally admitting he was wrong.
“Grace, I’m sorry. I’ve cut things off with Sophia, and I swear I won’t see her again.
“I am Leah’s dad. Can you forgive me for her sake?
“Grace, let’s get back together and give Leah a whole family. Let me come back to the Sunwing Group. I don’t need to be the general manager, a director’s spot would be fine.”
I was sitting in my fancy car, looking at Antonio through the half–open window, not really feeling much.
“Antonio, who do you think you are? Where were you when Leah needed. you at kindergarten?
“You have no right to talk about her!”
I had the driver drive away, leaving Antonio far behind, just like how Leah and I had left him far out of our lives.
The next I heard about Antonio, he was already behind bars.
It was quite easy for the legal team to recover the money he had moved to Sophia.
They told me that even Sophia’s house was bought secretly by Antonio.
Now, she had to rent a place in a rundown part of town.
Just like Antonio, she had got a bad name, and no company wanted to hire her.
She tried to start a little street–side business, but people recognized her and trashed her stall..
After that, she had to make a living by scavenging through garbage.
And the kids who picked on Leah were made to leave kindergarten by the other parents.
Word was, they were not doing so well in other kindergartens either.
It was no surprise that they were left out at their new schools.
I meant, who would want their kids playing with bullies, right?
Jacob, when he got to his new kindergarten, got called names because his mom was the other woman.
He got so mad that he lost it and started a fight with a bunch of six–year- olds.
It didn’t end well for him–he wasn’t a match for them and got beaten up, even drawing blood right there.
The hospital visit showed he had a concussion and a broken leg.
No other kindergartens would take him after that.
Sophia was beside herself, but there was nothing she could do, so she had to collect trash with him.
I saw them again on the snack street.
They were both dirty, their hair a mess, going through trash cans one by
one.
And there I was, in my fancy car, about to go get Leah’s favorite cake for
