Mila sat in the car, rolled down the window, and took several deep breaths, releasing the frustration trapped in her chest until she calmed down.
When her phone rang again, she declined the call and blocked the number.
Instantly, there was peace.
After a moment, she opened the car door to get out, but perhaps due to the emotional turbulence earlier, her legs gave way, and she stumbled toward the ground.
A hand reached out, steadying her, as a man’s gentle voice with a hint of laughter reached her ears.

Hugo had called several times without a response, growing increasingly frustrated. My sister blocked me again.
The woman beside him, beautiful and with a striking presence, was visibly annoyed. I thought you said your sister was always good to you? What’s this about?
