Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

Close your eyes.

Sherilyn’s

mind flashed back to the scene when Gilbert visited her last night.

“I didn’t, I didn’t push her!”

“I know, you didn’t push her!” Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ Find_Nøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Yes! I believe you!”

“You’re lying! You don’t believe me at all! You’re just a liar!”

Sherilyn thought to herself, he would never know… how many times it was that he didn’t believe her.

…

Sherilyn’s opportunity came sooner than she expected. Rebecca White was about to have her eye bandages removed.

On the day of the bandage removal, Francis Johnson arrived at the hospital early. However, as it had been for the past few days, Rebecca White hadn’t seen him. “Hey, big brother.”

When Sherilyn arrived, she found him sitting on a bench outside the room, hesitant to go in just yet.

“Uh-huh.” Francis nodded.

“Big brother,” Sherilyn said as she sat down beside him, “there’s something I’d like to ask of you.”

“What is it?” Francis was slightly surprised but didn’t refuse, “Tell me, whatever it is, I’m here to help.”

“It’s nothing major.”

Sherilyn smiled, “I want you to pass a message to our middle brother, tell him he can call Sophia anytime.”

“Sophia?” Francis was puzzled, “Who’s that?”

“It’s a long story.”

Sherilyn replied, “Today’s all about Rebecca’s moment, so I won’t take up more time explaining. You ask our middle brother, let him fill you in.”

Francis was puzzled, “But why can’t you tell him yourself?”

“We…” Sherilyn smirked, “agreed not to contact each other anymore.”

Before Francis could ask more, the doctors and nurses came with the treatment cart, ready to remove Rebecca White’s bandages.

Without further questions, Francis and Sherilyn entered the hospital room.

…

Inside the room, Rebecca White held Sherilyn’s hand tightly, her grip firm with nervousness.

Having been blind for so long, she was about to see the light again once the bandages came off!

“Ms. White, shall we begin?”

“Yes.” Rebecca White took a deep breath and nodded.

The doctor approached and started unwinding the bandage around her eyes. When it came to the last layer, he cautioned her.

“We’ve dimmed the lights, but it’s

been a while since you’ve seen light. It might be a bit of a shock, so take it slow open your eyes gradually.”

“Okay.”

Rebecca White nodded solemnly.

As the last layer was lifted, she didn’t immediately open her eyes but paused, slowly creating a small opening.

Then, she quickly shut them again!

“Rebecca?” Sherilyn was startled, “What’s wrong?”

“Sherilyn!” Rebecca White gripped her hand tighter, swallowing hard, “I… I can see the light! It’s so bright!”

Sherilyn paused, then laughed, “That’s a good thing.”

Encouragingly, she added, “Try opening your eyes again?”

“Okay.” Rebecca White took a deep

ine

breath, pursed her lips, and then

slowly opened her eyes again.

Initially squinting, her features

relaxed gradually.

She could see clearly the person standing in front of her.

It wasn’t the doctor, nor the nurse, nor Sherilyn.

Francis stood there, tall in a tailored suit that fit him perfectly, his short hair combed back neatly.

His features were sharp, his presence distinguished and elegant.

Just like the first impression he had left on her.

The difference was, back then, he

had been seated in a wheelchair et

looking somewhat pale and frail. Now he had forsaken the

wheelchair and the cane.

Rebecca White’s heart skipped a beat.

So, standing up, he was this tall? His physique strong and imposing, standing proud and tall like a pine tree, exuding a noble air.
