“Sherilyn.”
Amid her lively chatter, Gilbert suddenly leaned down, placing his palm against her back and pulling her into his embrace. “Sherilyn, I’ve missed you so much, so very much.”
Sherilyn was taken aback, unsure if it was her imagination, but the Gilbert holding her appeared so vulnerable, so alone. She opened her mouth, unusually calm and concerned, and asked him, “What… happened?”
“Sherilyn.”
Gilbert held her tighter, closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and hesitantly said, “I… I am not… Gilbert.”

Sherilyn’s eyes widened, uncertain if she had misheard, “What did you say?”
But the man holding her offered no response.
“Gilbert?”
Sensing something was off, Sherilyn raised her hand, pressing against his chest, trying to push him away. But then she noticed something… His body was burning hot.
Was he running a fever?
“Gilbert! You need to get up, we have to go to the hospital!”
Gilbert, already delirious from the fever, clung to her hand, “Don’t go, don’t leave me!”
Unable to break free, Sherilyn let him hold her hand, “Then you need to come with me to the hospital.”
“Okay, whatever you say.”
On the way to the hospital, Sherilyn called Francis.

Later, Gilbert was transferred to a room.

Francis turned to Sherilyn, “Gilbert’s really sick, I’d appreciate it if you could stay with him.”
“Of course.”
Sherilyn saw Francis out of the room, closed the door, and called after him.
“Big brother, can you tell me what exactly happened?”
Francis stopped, turned around to look at her, “Did Gilbert say anything to you?”
Sherilyn frowned, hesitantly saying, “He said something quite strange… he said he was not, not…”
Francis’s gaze hardened as he completed her sentence, “Not ‘Gilbert’?”
Sherilyn’s eyes widened in shock, did her brother know?
Francis’s deep gaze fell on her, and with a sigh, he said, “I see, Gilbert told you.”
