She burst into laughter, genuinely amused.
Her gaze sharp, “Caught in the act, afraid of rejection, so you claim it was just a joke? Such a foolish excuse might only fool yourself!” Pointing at Gilbert, “I bet, he understood too! Believe it or not?”

Instantly, Caroline’s face tightened, turning pale and then red with rage, her teeth clenched. “Haha…”
