Caroline felt a rush of joy and excitement.
She glanced at Gilbert, “Did you hear that? She admitted it herself!”
But Gilbert wasn’t looking at her. His dark eyes were fixed on Sherilyn.
Through gritted teeth, he growled, “Let’s talk inside!”
“Why do we need to go inside?”
Sherilyn couldn’t help but laugh, “Did you not hear me the first time? Then let me say it again…”
This time, she looked only at him, gazing into the depths of his eyes.
“Listen carefully, the child… it’s not yours…”
“Enough! Shut up!”
The man roared in anger, suddenly raising his fist.
Was he going to hit her? Sherilyn instinctively closed her eyes and raised her hands to protect her head!
The punch landed with a ‘thud’ on the wall behind her!
Sherilyn opened her eyes, confused, to see Gilbert’s face right near hers-angry but holding back. His whole body was trembling with rage and restraint.
He didn’t look good.
“Sherilyn…”
It seemed the punch had drained all his strength.
Gilbert managed a smile, but his eyes were full of sarcasm, “You… to do this to me, how could you do this to me? Do I deserve this from you?”
He grabbed her wrist, “If you won’t stay in the hospital, then come home with me!”
With that, he lifted her up in his arms.

Caroline was left standing there, completely ignored. This would never have happened before.
She clenched her fists, nails digging into her palms, “After being cuckolded, he still can’t let her go?” Did he really like her that much?
Gilbert carried Sherilyn out of the hospital building and into the car.

Seeing her she said, “I was about to come up and call you. Mr. Fletcher said you hadn’t eaten anything in the morning and asked me to prepare something for you. I’ll get it ready now; just give me a moment.”
