“Sherilyn…”
A current of panic surged through Gilbert. He was truly flustered!
He never anticipated such a twist in events!
Holding Sherilyn’s hand, he pleaded for forgiveness, “I’m sorry, I…”
“Stop it.”
Sherilyn stared at him, her gaze steady and unflinching, “I’m not interested in those half-hearted apologies. Save your energy.” “It’s not half-hearted!”
Gilbert lifted her hand to his lips, his mind racing for a way to keep his brother’s secret safe while also appeasing Sherilyn’s anger.
“The truth is…I didn’t find out…….I was afraid you’d be mad, that’s why I said that!”

“I’m sorry, I failed to handle the task you gave me. It’s my fault.”
Sherilyn barely lifted an eyelid, “That’s it?”
“Yes!” Gilbert leaned in, kissing her forehead as his voice trembled slightly.
“It’s my fault. You can hit me, yell at me, be mad at me…anything. But please, don’t say things like ‘when do we break up,’ ‘my feelings for you were all fake’… Can we not go there?” Sherilyn remained silent.
She didn’t buy his excuse of not being able to trace a hidden number. It was either unwillingness on his part or there was something else he was hiding.
But Sherilyn was tired of arguing. She knew it was futile.
“Let’s just go.” Sherilyn withdrew her hand, her tone indifferent. “I’m tired. I want to go back.”
Hearing this, Gilbert immediately agreed, “Okay.”
As they drove off, Sherilyn remained silent, gazing out of the window. She thought to herself that this would be the first and last time.
From now on, she wouldn’t ask him for any favors.

Upon arriving at Golden Oak Manor.
The housekeeper was about to leave, “Mr. Gilbert, Ms. Gomez, dinner is ready and still warm. It’s the perfect time to eat.”
“Got it.”
Gilbert nodded. “You can go home now.”
“Alright, Mr. Gilbert.” The housekeeper nodded and left.
By this time, Sherilyn had already made her way to the staircase, heading for her room.
Gilbert frowned and turned towards the kitchen. He prepared the rice and soup, so Sherilyn could eat as soon as she came down.
However, after waiting for a while, Sherilyn didn’t show up.
Gilbert massaged his temples and decided to go upstairs.
Upon entering the room, he heard the sound of water from the

After a while, the bathroom door slid open.
Sherilyn emerged, and Gilbert immediately approached her, “Sherilyn, it’s time to eat.”
“No, thanks.”
Sherilyn shook her head, avoiding his gaze, “I’m not hungry. I don’t feel like eating.”
Saying so, she went to the bed, pulled back the covers, and lay down.
Gilbert approached the bed, sitting on the edge.
Looking at her delicate face, he coaxed gently, “It’s not good to sleep on an empty stomach. Eat a little, okay?”
Sherilyn glanced at him and still refused, “I don’t want to eat. It’s okay, I often skipped dinner before…”
“Before is before, now is now.”
Gilbert frowned, patiently explaining to her.
“You alone before, but now you
have fainted

said you were too weak.”
The more he spoke, the more worried he became.
Gilbert refused to let her get her way, bending down, he scooped her up in his arms like a child.
