Sherilyn was in a state of panic and without giving it much thought, she dialed Francis.
“Fran! Rebecca’s gone missing! The hospital said she was picked up by a family member, but who could that be? I tried calling her just now, and her phone is off…”
As she finished speaking, she calmed down a bit and immediately felt a twinge of regret.
She realized how abrupt it was to call Francis like this, especially since he and Rebecca weren’t really connected.
“Sorry, Fran, I just panicked…”
For reasons unknown to her, she instinctively sought his help first.
“No worries.”
On the other end, Francis listened quietly, “Don’t stress. Here’s what we’ll do, I’ll have Sawyer look into it.”
Sherilyn felt a lump in her throat, “Thank you, Fran.”
“Why act so formal?” Francis spoke softly, “We’re family, aren’t we? Don’t talk like we’re strangers. Just wait for my update.”
“Alright, thanks.”
After hanging up, Sherilyn felt helpless and with a heavy heart, she returned to the dance company. Throughout the day, her thoughts were consumed with worries about Rebecca.
Having faced loneliness and despair herself, Sherilyn felt a deep sense of compassion towards Rebecca.
Considering Rebecca’s current situation, it would be heartless of her not to care…
By noon, she received a call from Francis.
“Fran?” Sherilyn answered almost instantly, “Did you find anything about Rebecca?”
“Yes.”
Francis signaled her to stay calm, “Don’t worry, Rebecca indeed was taken by her family.” Really? Sherilyn frowned, “Who was it?”
It couldn’t be Eddy, could it? If Rebecca was with him, would she even be safe?
“It was Galloway White.”
“Galloway White?”
Who was that? A White by surname, Rebecca’s father perhaps?
“Rebecca’s grandfather.” Francis explained.
“Rebecca being with Mr. White should put your mind at ease. He will take good care of her.”
To make sure she understood, he added, “Galloway is a renowned painter of our times.”
With that, Sherilyn remembered.
She was an art student. Back when she was in dance classes, the next room over was for painting students, and she had heard the name Galloway.
Who would have thought Rebecca was Galloway’s granddaughter!
“Rest assured.” Francis added, “With Galloway’s resources, Rebecca will be well looked after by her grandfather.”
“That’s a relief. Thanks for everything, Fran.”
After hanging up, Sherilyn, while relieved, couldn’t help but feel a sense of melancholy.
So, Rebecca was from a family steeped in culture. And the Jones family, well-known entrepreneurs in Sunhaven, seemed like a match made in heaven for them.
If not for that disastrous wedding night… Rebecca could have had a life filled with happiness and security.
Sherilyn found herself feeling resentful towards the man who had ruined Rebecca’s life!
Today, Gilbert arrived at the dance company earlier than usual.
He came to pick up Sherilyn for a quick trip back to Golden Oak Manor They had a gala to attend in the evening, and Sherilyn needed to change into a formal dress.
In the car, Sherilyn was still preoccupied with thoughts of Rebecca, looking rather downcast.
“Cheer up.”
Gilbert wrapped his arms around

Gilbert didn’t fully grasp that she saw a reflection of her past helpless self in Rebecca.
Thankfully, Rebecca still had her
grandfather to lean on. Sherilyn hoped that with Galloway’s intervention, Rebecca’s life would
take a turn for the better.
Upon reaching Golden Oak Manor, Sherilyn slipped into her evening gown and then they both headed to the gala. “Sherilyn.”
