And what would the expressions on the faces of the Langstons be like? She was actually kind of looking forward to it! Evelina was petrified, scared so much that she plopped down on the ground, thinking it was impossible she’d been caught. She had been so careful to dodge the surveillance, how could she possibly have been filmed?
What now? This was it. She was doomed. If the Langstons took a disliking to her, her future was as good as over.
After watching the video, Asher turned to Evelina in shock, “What’s this all about? Eve, what have you done?”
He couldn’t believe it. Evelina had actually cheated.
And after he’d just defended her so vehemently, now with the evidence, Asher felt utterly humiliated!
Evelina, feeling guilty, couldn’t even lift her head to answer.
What was she to do? If she couldn’t explain herself, it was all over!
She couldn’t be thrown out of the Langston mansion; she couldn’t lose the princess-like status the Langstons had afforded her!
Lemira raised her voice on purpose, “Evelina cheated, isn’t it obvious? Asher, are you blind or what? She cheated. Do you know what that means? Need me to enlighten you?” Asher’s face turned livid, from being absolutely certain to being utterly embarrassed.
Evelina took a few steps back, her face ashen. The word “cheating” felt like a needle piercing straight through her heart.
It was supposed to be Lemira who was humiliated today, how had the tables turned? This wasn’t right!
Asher felt his dignity was hurt, having believed in Evelina’s innocence only to have the surveillance video thrown to his face.
The lead investigator said with a mocking tone, “Is this evidence clear

Knowing he was in the wrong, Asher couldn’t say much more. How embarrassing!
But no matter how much the lead investigator asked, Evelina remained silent.
She didn’t dare answer! Afraid that if she did, her life would be over.

Upon seeing this, Lemira loudly said, “Evelina, do you think by staying silent, you can escape everything? The evidence of your cheating is conclusive, and the school will definitely find out, then issue a notice to all students. According to the school rules, you’ll be expelled!”
“Stop it!” Evelina covered her head, screaming out.
She couldn’t believe she had failed at such a crucial moment. She shouldn’t have reported Lemira for cheating; then, nobody would have looked into her.
Wait, Evelina suddenly thought of something and looked up at Lemira, “Did you report me?”

Lemira’s lips curled coldly, “What are you talking about? Why would I report you?”
Of course, she wouldn’t admit it now.
Evelina, grasping at straws, cried out, “Lemmy, I know you’ve always disliked me, thinking I stole your family from you. But you can’t do this!” Asher turned to Lemira, “Lemira, tell the truth. Did you do this? Why would you be so cruel to your own family?”
Hearing this, Lemira scoffed, “Me, cruel? Evelina cheating wasn’t something I forced her into.”
Evelina guiltily lowered her gaze. She had to find a way out of this mess! She needed to play on the Langston family’s soft spot for her!
After all, her father had saved Lemira’s life; he had done the Langstons a great service!
