Chapter 9
After coming out of the hospital, Nathen called Melanie several times, but she didn’t answer. Suddenly, he felt a little anxious.
He hurriedly took a taxi to the airport and bought a ticket for the nearest flight to Ashedge.
While waiting for the flight, he sent many messages again, but still did not receive any replies.
As time passed, his heart beat faster and faster, and he couldn’t control his wild thoughts.
He recalled the events that had happened before leaving Ashedge and vaguely sensed that something was amiss.
But he couldn’t remember what exactly went wrong, his mind only held onto the calm gaze Melanie gave him as she looked back. When he landed in Ashedge again, It was already the 26th,
He haurriedly arrived at the hotel, pushed open the door, but found it empty and devoid of any figures.
He searched every corner of the room, even turning the wardrobe upside down, but still found no trace.
Melanie completely disappeared.
Nathen felt a loud roar in his ears, his mind went blank, and his blood started flowing backwards throughout his body.
He took out his phone in a flaster and dialed her number repeatedly, but he couldn’t hear any sound.
As he heard the cold “The number you have dialed is currently switched off” tone in his ear, his sanity gradually slipped away, and he stumbled and ran to the front desk, speaking incoherently.
“Excuse me, has the guest in room 607 checked out and left?”
The receptionist at the front desk tapped on the computer a few times and shook their head.
“No check–out yet, the check–o
-out time is tomorrow at noon.”
Upon hearing these words, Nathen finally managed to catch his breath.
He supported himself with the chair beside him and slowly sat down, forcing himself to calm down and constantly brainwashing himself.
“It’s okay, she probably just went out for a walk, didn’t have time to check the messages, it’s okay.”
After repeating this sentence over a dozen times, he suddenly had a flash of inspiration and remembered something
Did they come to Ashedge to see the first snow?
bathen turned his head and looked out of the window, only to see a clear sky
Didn’t it snow in Aalodge?
He opened his phone to the recent weather in Ahedge, but when he turned it on, the weather displayed on the phone was still for Shadowgrass,
Linde Snow
Seving these words, Nathan’s lost sanity finally regained a little
Could it be that Melanie went back to her country without having the chance to tell him, maybe because she saw the weather
forecast?
Was she still angry lascause he let her and went back to us country, so she deliberately disappeared to scare him?
These two thoughts lapt stating in Nate’s id, leaving him uncertain and his heart tangled into a mess
He looked at the conversation box that aver selved a reply, becoming increasingly autoyed.
Time passed by minute by minute, and soon the sky turned dark
Natten sat in the lobby for six hours and still did not sey Melanie’s figure
His last bit of patience at out, and he got up to find the front desk and retrieve the surveillance footage
According to the surveillance video, atto o’clock in the morning on Christmas Day, Melanie left the hotel alone, pushing her baggage
He looked at the time and realized that Melanie had been missing for 32 hours
The idea that she had probably returned to her home country grew stronger and stronger in Nathen’s inlial
