I had to get ready for my business trip.
To steer clear of them in Abalind, I fired up WhatsApp, something I hadn’t touched in forever, and hopped into a chat group.
This chat group had over twenty people, and it was always popping.
I didn’t feel like scrolling through their ritzy lifestyles, so I just hunted for those two by name.
For the last two years, Antonio had really messed up Michelle’s name. and he wasn’t in great shape himself.
A year and a half ago, Michelle made headlines, claiming she was pregnant with his child, and she cried her heart out in front of everyone.
That little mess had the old folks giving Antonio the cold shoulder.
Barely a month had passed when Michelle had a fall at home, and sadly, the baby was gone.
Michelle and her mom got the boot from the Parrish family.
They packed up and left Wigocia, heading for a second–tier city to start their life.
But with Antonio and Tyler keeping tabs, their days weren’t exactly rosy.

Five days later, I was on a plane with Linda and a couple of other colleagues, bound for Abalind.
It was a week–long trip. I figured I wouldn’t have the bad luck to run into those two.
Once I arrived in Abalind, I only stepped out of my hotel when it was really necessary.
Most of the time, I stayed in my room, not daring to step outside.
The evening before my departure, there was this farewell dinner I had to go to.
It was at some fancy club. The moment I walked in, I could swear I felt
eyes on me.
But when I turned to look, nobody was there.
That was when the uneasiness started to set in.
About halfway through the dinner, I faked a bathroom break, grabbed my bag, and was ready to leave.
I played it safe and took the back exit.
Abalind was wild with traffic. I waited for a taxi under a tree.
