I had a feeling things weren’t that simple.
Sure enough, Rachel’s call came not long after, bringing shocking news.
Adrian had put Jack in the hospital.
“His life is saved for now, but he’s seriously injured. It must be Adrian taking revenge and deliberately trying to kill Jack. This man is too scary.”
When I arrived at the hospital, Adrian’s assistant was sitting outside the ward.
Rachel was still trying to get on his good side, but the assistant remained unmoved, not even sparing her a glance.

Rachel happily ran over and pulled me towards the ward.
I saw the assistant give me a worried look before leaving to make a phone call.

Rachel screamed behind me.

I have to say, Rachel was quite skilled at adding fuel to the fire. As soon as she finished speaking, Adrian immediately became anxious, gripping my hand even tighter.

I didn’t need ten minutes. Ten seconds was enough.
I walked up to Jack. His eyes lit up.
“Hazel, I knew you wouldn’t be so heartless.”
I smiled lightly and unhesitatingly raised my hand.
I put all my strength into this slap. My hand even swelled up afterwards.
A crisp slap echoed through the hospital corridor.
