Marcus widened his eyes in disbelief. Apologize to Hera? Although he did push someone when she was carrying out an operation, he didn’t cause any real harm. Why should he apologize? He refused!
Philip felt the same way. Apologizing to Hera would bring shame to the Chime family’s medical legacy and show everyone that their family was inferior to Hera.
“Dad, I’m afraid that’s impossible,” Philip said. “We can talk it out, but apologizing is out of the question!”
Priscilla was enraged by Augustus’ words. “Augustus, you’re indeed helping her! I feel the same as Philip. Apologizing is out of the question. If you want to apologize, do it yourself!”
Seeing that none of them were willing, Augustus felt angry and helpless. The Chime family’s medical legacy was going to be ruined by them!
“Fine, if none of you will go, I’ll do it!” With that, he stormed upstairs.
Priscilla watched his retreating figure, fuming.
Priscilla cursed Catherine. How dare she seduce Augustus at her age? Well, go ahead. She would see if they still had feelings for each other.
The next day, Hera woke up at noon. Upon waking, she heard noises from the kitchen. Thinking it was Tiramisu causing trouble, she went to check and found Bernard there instead.
He was wearing an apron. He was busy doing something in a bowl, his fingers covered in flour.
“Are you making hummingbird
cake?” Hera asked as she curiously peered into his bowl. Sure enough, he was mixing flour and water, but he had added too much water, making it mushy.
“Don’t you have work today?” Hera asked, noting it was a weekday.
Bernard huffed. “I’m skipping work to make hummingbird cake for my girlfriend, lest she forgets she has a boyfriend.”
Hera was speechless hearing his sarcastic tone. He was still jealous about her seeking out Nicholas yesterday! “Are you still jealous?”
Bernard said nothing, continuing to knead the dough.
Hera sighed helplessly and hugged his waist. “Stop being angry, okay? You’re so smart, so you should know that involving your men would expose your identity, right?”
Bernard remained silent, his handsome face still showing displeasure.
Hera recalled Samantha’s advice. When a man was angry, sulking, or jealous, they were not actually angry. He just wanted to feel seen, so she tried to soothe him. “You’re the most handsome and capable man in the world. You’re the only one need. So, beconfident, and don’t be jealous, okay?”
Bernard paused and looked at Hera with a burning gaze. “Do you really think that?”
Hera nodded, feeling like a flirt for saying whatever it took to appease him.
But Bernard enjoyed it. Hera
wouldn’t easily flirt with him. “From now on, you should tell every man who approaches you that Bernard Killian is the only man you love.”
Hera groaned to herself.
