Thinking Hera had returned, Bernard said hoarsely, “I feel terrible, sweetie.”
His gentle voice held a hint of playfulness, making him sound nothing like his usual cold self. Hearing that made Lorna’s heart race involuntarily. She never knew he had such a gentle side to him.
“Mr. Killian.” Lorna held a glass of water as she cautiously approached him.
Realizing that it wasn’t Hera, Bernard glared at Lorna before coldly uttering, “Get lost!”
Lorna flinched slightly at his sudden change of attitude, but she did not back down. “Mr. Killian, I noticed how uncomfortable you were, so I poured a glass of warm water for you. Drink it, and you’ll feel better.”
While speaking, she sat on the couch next to Bernard and deliberately leaned closer to him, trying to offer him water.
“Get lost! Don’t make me say it for a third time.” Bernard pulled out a gun from behind him and coldly pointed it at her forehead.
Lorna stared at the dark muzzle of the gun, her heart thumping madly. She gulped in fear and dared not to move anymore. She knew that he would really pull the trigger if she continued getting closer to him.
