While Xandia spoke, she grabbed Xavier, who was hiding behind Hera. Xandia dragged him away like he was a sack of potatoes despite his struggles.
Hera fell silent.
“Ms. Hera, I’m so sorry to alarm you like this. We’ll head back now.” Marriott quickly ran after Xandia.
Catherine and the others had already gone home by the time Hera reached the clinic. After she got out of the cab, a black Maybach slowly stopped behind her.
“Where did you go to, sweetie?” Bernard rolled down the car windows and asked.
Hera looked at him and used her keys to open the back door of her house. “Are you trying to monitor your landlady’s whereabouts?
Bernard laughed. “Please open the gates and allow me to go inside your house, Ms. Landlady.”
After making a sound of annoyance, Hera opened the other side of the gate for him.
Then, she returned to the western wing while Bernard drove his car into the courtyard and closed the gates.
When he entered the place, he saw Hera in the kitchen. Her long hair was clipped to the back, and she was cooking something while wearing an apron.
“That smells delicious. Ms. Landlady, you haven’t eaten yet. Do you need my help to cook?” Bernard asked her.
“Who gave you the permission to enter the kitchen?” The moment she turned around, she noticed a bouquet of roses in front of her. She frowned slightly. “What are you doing?”
“This is a courting gift, Ms. Hera,” Bernard replied.
Hera looked at him in disgust and went back to her cooking. “Do you think that I’ll be easily placated, Bernard? You may use these tricks to woo young women, but they’ll never work on me.”
“Why don’t you check the flowers first?” he asked.
“Why are you acting all mysterious?” Hera switched off the fire and wiped her hands. She then reached into the bouquet of roses, where she felt a small box inside.
Looking at Bernard, she warned, “If you bought me an adult toy, I won’t let you inside my house again.”
Bernard washed his hands and took the spatula from her. He continued cooking the food in the pot. “Open the gift.”
When Hera opened the black box, she saw a card inside. There was a serial number and a QR code on it, as well as Astral Nova’s logo.
She recognized the serial number. Similar serial numbers appeared in the Astral Nova Auction and could be used to obtain bidded items. Once she scanned the QR code with her phone, details about the product popped up immediately. Bernard had given her high-quality ambergris.
This caught her interest. No one in the medical field would be able to resist a valuable medicinal ingredient!
“Why did you give me such an expensive present? Aren’t you afraid that your efforts might go to waste?” she teased.
Bernard answered, “I’m not afraid of that. I’m just scared that you won’t accept my gift.”

“This is the price of my present,” he said.
Hera didn’t know what to reply. She clearly knew what 143 meant “I love you”. It corresponded to the number of letters in each word.
