It was a big commotion. What started with just a few people watching the spectacle soon attracted the attention of more guests. A crowd soon formed around them.
Hera and Silas were seated at their respective tables with their laptops. The waiter had already projected their screens onto the large display.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you. I’ll give you a head start.” Silas sneered.
“No need. Let’s just start.” Hera shrugged.
He didn’t like her arrogant tone. He wouldn’t hold back since she didn’t appreciate the courtesy, so he gave Roland a look. “Let’s start.”
Roland frowned and inserted a coin into the claw machine, starting the 120-second countdown.
Silas began typing away at his keyboard, lines of code filled the screen as he hacked into the claw machine’s system, altering its original programming.
Hera instinctively reached into her pocket and pulled out a USB flash drive before plugging it into her computer.
Bernard realized too late what Hera plugged into her laptop.
A golden flame emblem appeared on Hera’s screen.
He felt speechless. He had forgotten about the USB flash drive in his pocket!
Chatter filled the crowd.
“It’s Vulcan!
“It’s the legendary Vulcan!”
“Wow! She’s Vulcan! No wonder she was so arrogant!”
“This is going to be good!”
“This is such a satisfying twist!”
“The winner is set! The Atkinses are doomed!”
“How dare the 99th-ranked hacker challenge Vulcan!”
“Am I the only one shocked that she’s not just a big shot in medicine but also a top-tier hacker? How are the rest of us supposed to compete now?”
Silas froze, his hands hovering over the keyboard. He thought he had found an easy target, but he had only made a fool of himself!
He was only ranked 99th on the Global Hacker List, yet he openly challenged an expert!
Hera was also dumbfounded. Her eyes locked on the USB flash drive she pulled out of her pocket.
This was Bernard’s coat! Was he the Vulcan she had been searching for? How dare he!
Images of their online interactions over the past few months flashed through her mind. Her heart raced and she was finding it harder to breathe.
She couldn’t believe Bernard lied to her!

dropped. They couldn’t believe Hera

Douglas swallowed and thought, “What do we do? Boss’ cover has been blown!”
Bernard sighed, thinking, “Fuck! This is bad! I’d better do the house chores when I get home later.”
Hera regained her composure and yanked out the USB flash drive. Then, she retrieved her own from her purse and plugged it in.

The flame emblem suddenly vanished, replaced by a crow symbol, and the crowd went wild again!
