Back then, Mark had said, “This has 1.2 million dollars. Mr. Lane is giving this to you as your monthly allowance. He also said his money doesn’t grow on trees. So, you’ll have to record how much you’ve spent whenever you buy something.”

Yvette was stunned. “I don’t need anything.” She wanted to see how long he could keep up the pretense.
Yvette returned to her room to get some rest. Shortly after she left, Mark came and helped with the chores.

It finally made sense to him why Shannon suddenly told him that he was dismissed. She had told him not to return to Lane Group anymore. He thought Shannon was cruel. After all, Xavier was her own son. After Mark was done doing the chores, Xavier called him to get in the car and suddenly passed him a card. “What’s this, Mr. Lane?”
Xavier said with a smile, “Yvvy has given me some money, and she’s letting me buy a dishwasher and a robot vacuum.”
Mark was confused. He heard Xavier saying happily, “She’s definitely worried about me not having any money. When I gave her a gold card before, she didn’t even want it.”
When she had learned that someone had replaced him that afternoon, she couldn’t help asking how he felt. Then, she had given him the card that night. Xavier figured she thought he had lost his money after having his position snatched away.
When Mark heard Xavier saying it like that, he wondered if the latter had a misunderstanding.
“Mr. Lane, how much did Mrs. Lane give you?”
“1.2 million dollars. She said that she would give me more every month,” Xavier said.
When Mark heard the amount, he thought it sounded familiar.
Suddenly, he remembered how Xavier used to tell him to transfer monthly allowances to Yvette back then. Her allowance had been 1.2 million dollars as well.
Mark realized she was getting her revenge on Xavier. He thought it was fortunate that Xavier had misunderstood the situation. Otherwise, he would be heartbroken.
