Brittany sneaked into the living room and
grabbed my wrist.

“Ashley, I have to say some things to you. I
know I did some bad things, and I hurt our
family.
“I regret what I did, and I want to apologize. I
made a mistake, and I’m sorry. Can you
forgive me?”
I almost laughed out loud.
I coughed and patted her back.
“Brittany, you’re funny. You’re evil, stupid, and
clumsy, but we’re family. And you already got
what you deserved, so I don’t blame you.”
Brittany was pissed.
But in order to get me to fall into her trap,

she looked sad.
“I just wanted you to forgive me, and I want
to give you a gift.”
She grabbed a box, and a sapphire necklace
glittered.
The necklace fell on the floor when the hook
broke.
Brittany picked up the gem.
“Ashley, I’m sorry. I broke the necklace. I’ll fix
it in the bedroom. Do you want to come with
me?”
I smirked and nodded.
The closer we got to the bedroom, the more
excited Brittany became.
She took out a cloth that had a liquid and
covered my mouth and nose.
I pretended to struggle and fell to the floor.
“I finally got you, you trash!”
Brittany grinned and shouted Cole’s name.
“Cole, come on out, I’ll watch out for you, and
you mess her up as much as you can!”
Cole opened the door and spat on the floor.
“Trash, you promised me that the Miller’s
wouldn’t hurt me, but if you break our
agreement, you’re going to regret it!”
Brittany looked ugly. “Once Ashley’s been
messed up, I’m going to be the only daughter.
Do you think I can’t protect you? Stop talking,
or I’m going to go find someone else, and
your family’s going to go bankrupt.”
“Okay, I’ll listen to you.”
Cole dragged me into the bedroom, slammed
the door, and took off his clothes.
I just laid there, wondering why he was still
listening to her when she had broken his
equipment.
I didn’t feel like pretending anymore.
When Cole was a few feet away, I got up,
pulled out pepper spray, and sprayed him in

“Argh!”
Cole started screaming.
I didn’t care and used ether to knock him out,
then I opened the door.
Just like I had thought, the door had been
locked.
I could smell leather burning through the door.
It looked like Brittany didn’t just want Cole to
mess with me, she wanted to burn us both in
the bedroom.
I was not going to let her do that.
I grabbed the sheet and started to climb out
of the window.
Before I could finish, the door broke.
Ethan stood in the smoke with a chainsaw.
“You…” I just stared.
When he saw Cole on the floor, his eyes
flashed with murder.
“You know that Brittany wanted to hurt you,
so why would you go off with her alone?”
Ethan pulled me out of the room.
“She could have killed you again.”
I suddenly got it.
