Avery tapped the submission date and remarked. “The school pressured Miss Brown to turn in her design draft the day after she stayed at your house, but she had nothing to submit.
“Miss Brown worked tirelessly for three days on the competing projects.”
With that said, it was not difficult to guess what had happened.
Although Eleanor gave her best effort, Zoey ultimately triumphed, leaving Eleanor feeling disheartened at the celebratory banquet.
Now, Eleanor was blinded because of it.
For a moment, Avery did not know what to say. She admired Eleanor’s perseverance.
Elijah closed the file and lit a cigarette.
In the dim light, the smoke, shifting and swirling, took on a greenish–gray hue before slowly fading away.
A flicker of emotion disturbed the coldness in Elijah’s dark eyes. He lowered his gaze and snapped the cigarette in his fingers.
“Avery.” He glanced at Avery.
“Elijah, I understand,” Avery said.
Avery had followed him for more than Elijah years. He knew what Elijah wanted to do with just one look.
“Elijah, do you need me to explain to Miss Brown?” he asked.
Elijah said, “No, let’s go.”
Elijah threw the cigarette into the trash can and walked away coldly.
Early the next morning.
Eleanor had just opened her eyes when she smelled the fragrance of food.
“Mom?” she called.

Eleanor pouted. “You’re taking advantage of me

Eleanor said in surprise, “Why are you all here? Aren’t you not allowed to take leave during your internship?”
“You’re already like this,” Violet exclaimed, “how can we possibly go to work?”
Bella carefully blew on the oatmeal she had secretly cooked in the dorm and said, “Eleanor, eat first. We got you some snacks.”
Eleanor looked at the three of them gratefully. “Thank you.”
Violet hesitantly waved her hands in front of Eleanor. However, Lacey and Bella glared at her before she lowered her hand in embarrassment,
Eleanor chuckled and was about to taste the oatmeal when she was interrupted by the cries at the door.
“Eleanor! Eleanor! What happened to you? Why are you blind?” Julian exclaimed.
She threw herself onto the bed and cried as soon as she entered.
Those who didn’t know better might think that Eleanor had died.
Lacey asked, “Why are you crying? Are you trying to get attention? Look, Eleanor is sitting here quietly.”
“I’m so upset,” Julian sobbed. “Eleanor, what did the doctor say about your eyes? Can you
recover?”
When Julian raised her hand to wipe her tears, her eyes were fixed on Eleanor’s.
It was as if a rat in a gutter was gloating.
Violet, who had always been naive, was unhappy when she heard this. She retorted, “Julian, what do you mean? Eleanor, she…”
“We can only leave it to fate,” Eleanor interrupted.
After Eleanor finished speaking, tears welled up in her eyes.
Her roommates, initially indignant, knew what she meant and became immersed in the
scene in a second..

Violet sobbed and said, “Eleanor, please don’t talk like that. Let’s focus on your treatment, okay? You’re going to get better soon.”
“Yes, the doctors are very capable. It’s important to have faith in them and in yourself,” Lacey covered her face as she spoke
She felt sorry for Eleanor.
Bella, without saying anything, just quietly wiped her tears.
When Julian noticed their pessimism, she assumed Eleanor’s cyc condition must be quite
severe.
She looked down and her slender body trembled slightly. Tears welled up in her eyes as she hugged Eleanor tightly.
She sobbed. “Eleanor, I don’t believe it! You’ll be fine! Boohoo…”
Anyone who saw this scene would think that Julian was close to Eleanor.
Eleanor understood Julian’s hug wasn’t genuine; she simply didn’t want others to notice her smug grin.
In fact, Julian was indeed grinning.
She couldn’t wait for Eleanor to become blind.
However, in the next second, Julian’s smile faded.
Eleanor patted Julian’s back reassuringly. “Julian, I’m fine,” she said. “I heard about your accident at school, falling into the toilet. You really need to be more careful.”
Julian’s body stiffened, and her expression was complicated.
Adding to her embarrassment, the doctors and nurses were at the doorway for rounds and overheard the entire conversation.
Their sized up Julian. Julian was ashamed.
Eleanor couldn’t see, so she didn’t know that someone was coming.
Julian,” she continued, “why are you so careless? You fell into the toilet. Thank goodness. you’re okay. Please be careful.”
