Chapter 319
The private room was empty, except for a flashy handbag left on one of the chairs. The sound of running water echoed from the restroom, which hadn’t been closed properly.
Shakira frowned, struggling to figure out her collaboration partner. ‘What kind of executive forgets to close the restroom door?’
“I need to use the restroom too; I’ll be right back,” Shakira said, making up an excuse before leaving.
Walter stayed silent, watching her with an unreadable look in his eyes.
When Sean arrived, he spotted a donut with an interesting flavor outside the alley and couldn’t resist. Unbeknownst to him. while waiting for Walter, he ended up with donut stains on his clothes, scrubbing at the mess for what felt like forever. As Sean came out, he was drawn to Walter, who looked regal even from his wheelchair. Sean thought to himself, ‘It’s clear why Walter is Crescentville’s top aristocrat- Kyle doesn’t even compare. Even I admire Walter’s flawless appearance. Sean felt a mix of admiretion and pity for Walter.
Walter said, “Mr. Reynolds, the way you look at me could lead others to misunderstand.”
Sean’s eyes flashed with a meaningful grin. “Mr. Lopez, you know how to joke.”
Sean took a seat across from Walter and leaned back in his chair. “I’m surprised you would personally arrange a dinner with
me.”
Sean couldn’t shake off the memory of how inattentive Walter had been during his last visit, thinking this sudden hospitality was suspicious.
Walter smirked slightly. “Given Mr. Reynolds’ uninvited presence, I thought some attention was due.”
Sean replied, “Your company is top-notch; it’s only right for us to seek guidance from Lopez Group, and I’ve learned quite a bit during this visit.” Walter cut him off, “I hope you have learned how to improve your building’s rooftop terrace design.”
Sean fell silent, feeling confused and annoyed by Walter’s unexpected scrutiny of him.
“Is it wrong to catch up with a friend, Mr. Lopez?” Sean scoffed.
Walter said, “No, but…”
Walter’s gaze turned sharp, serving as a clear warning. “Just stay away from her.”
A jolt ran through Sean; he felt the pressure from Walter like a lion guarding its territory, ready to strike if needed.
Sean silently took a breath, puzzled by Walter’s sudden hostility
Sean thought, ‘Is he talking about Xanthe? Surely not- she is just an intern. Could Walter be so attached to her?’
The thought unsettled Sean.
What kind of taste does Walter have, finding Xanthe appealing? Isn’t he involved with his maid? Is that romance over, or is he just playing both sides?”
His mind raced with outrageous possibilities.

Walter watched Sean’s face shift, causing a slight twitch at his brow.
He had a feeling that Sean’s head was filled with all sorts of random, useless thoughts.
“Mr. Reynolds, we haven’t added each other as friends yet, have we?” Walter said finally. “True,” Sean admitted.
They hadn’t spent enough time together to form a friendship.
Sean pulled out his phone and said, “Let’s do this now.”
“Fine,” Walter agreed.
After accepting, Sean jumped onto Walter’s Instagram profile, which was as bland as Walter himself.
Walter had just begun using Instagram- yet each post seemed odd, especially one with cats and a claim of ownership. It felt strangely familiar, stirring something in Sean’s memory. He tried to place it, but couldn’t.
Suddenly, he switched off Instagram and messaged Shakira. Sean: [Shakira! You won’t believe this!]
Shakira: [?]
Sean: [Walter likes Xanthe!! Isn’t that wild?!!]
On the other end, Shakira started typing.
Moments later, a knock disrupted their conversation, followed by the door creaking open a bit.
Suddenly, Sean recognized a familiar female voice. “Sean, make sure to eat more pig brain; you really need more brain.” Sean’s eyes widened in shock as he locked eyes with Shakira, who had just entered. Tension filled the room, with Sean’s eyes wide as he processed it
Then a notification popped up on his screen, and instinctively he tapped it to find a voice note from Shakira. “Sean, make sure to eat more pig brain; you really need more brain.”
Sean and Shakira fell silent, stunned.
Walter silently watched their reactions.
Upon hearing Shakira’s voice from Sean’s phone, Walter’s expression darkened.
With a chilling grin, he said, “Mr. Reynolds, have you heard my words before?”
At that moment, it hit Sean hard. The man behind Shakira was Walter.
