Zayden pulled his arm away. He hadn’t planned on explaining anything, but knowing Olive’s personality, she’d likely make trouble for Quinn if he didn’t say something.
“Olive, that news the other day–it was just an accident. As for the engagement, didn’t we agree to wait until Norman wakes up?”
Seeing Olive about to speak again, he cut her off. “If you want me to end the engagement sooner, then you’d better hope Norman wakes up soon. Right?”
Without waiting for her response, he turned and left the Fairchild estate.
Olive stood frozen, her mind spinning with Zayden’s words. He said once Norman woke up, he’d call off the engagement. If they could break it off, Zayden would still be hers.
After leaving, Quinn immediately texted Damon for help. But even after a long wait, there was no reply.
Only then did she remember–Damon had already repaid his debt to her. If she wanted his help again, she’d need to offer something in return.
With that in mind, she went back through her research and drove herself to the silverleaf flower processing plant.
Wearing sunglasses, she got out of the car and told the factory guard she was here to discuss a potential partnership–said she also worked with silverleaf flowers.
The guard in the booth gave her a long once–over before saying, “Wait here. I’ll check with the boss.”
After making a call, he pointed. “Head down that way and take a right. The reception room’s at the end.”
“Thanks,” Quinn said, striding off in that direction.
She didn’t notice the guard making another phone call after she left–or that he’d picked up a metal rod and started following behind her.
The moment Quinn turned the corner, she realized there was no reception room–just an open, empty lot.
Alarms blared in her mind.
At that very moment, a man rushed out from the left and tackled her to the ground, pressing a damp cloth. toward her face.
Quinn turned her head sharply to avoid it. She fought back hard, hooking her leg around the man’s ankle and dragging him down with all her strength.
The quick and agile attacker was suddenly at a disadvantage.
Seeing her opening, Quinn snatched the cloth from him, flipped their positions, and pinned him beneath
her.
“Talk! Who sent you? What the hell are you trying to do?!”
Refore he could answer Quinn felt a charn blow to the back of her head.
then everything went black

The man on the ground struggled to his feet, clearly shaken. He gave Quinn two vicious kicks. “This bitch isn’t normal.”
“I don’t care what she is. This place barely sees any visitors, and the boss said anyone who tries to get in with an excuse gets knocked out and locked up. End of story.”
With that, they began dragging Quinn toward a nearby warehouse.
The man who had just been beaten by Quinn helped the guard. Spotting her exposed waist, he swallowed
hard.
“Hey… think I could-”
“You could my ass! Did you see what she did to you just now? You got a death wish? Call the boss already.”
“R–right…”
Quinn was jolted awake by a harsh creaking sound. The pain at the back of her head was blinding–she couldn’t lift it right away.
The room was dark. A rat was gnawing on her shoe.
It felt far too familiar, like she was back in that endless, suffocating prison.
She let out a sharp scream and kicked the rat away. The movement sent a burning pain through her back. She’d felt someone dragging her earlier–must’ve scraped her skin raw on the ground.
Gritting her teeth, she forced herself upright. Once her eyes adjusted to the dim light, she realized she was still inside the factory. The overwhelming scent of silverleaf flowers confirmed it.
Her wrists and ankles were bound. She could only hop toward the stacks of silverleaf blooms, their heavy fragrance hanging in the air.
The sheer concentration of the scent was enough to make her dizzy.
After only a short while, Quinn’s legs gave out–she could barely stay standing.
If not for the searing pain from her back, she might’ve already passed out.
She began to wonder–could silverleaf flowers be used to make someone unconscious? Had the Fairchilds been using them to harm her grandfather? Where else would that floral scent in his room have come from?
Just then, she heard the door creak open.
Quinn quickly hopped back to her original position and shut her eyes, pret ling to be unconscious.
Footsteps drew near. The guard’s voice followed.
“Boss, this is the woman who came asking to work with us.”
After a moment, a new voice replied, calm but curious.
“Quinn?”

“Boss, did you say this is that Quinn? The one who hit someone and went to prison three years ago? The Fairchild heiress? Her own family doesn’t even want her anymore!”
