However, Antonio just lowered his eyes and said, “Grace and I may not be blood–related. But to me, she’s closer than a biological family. So Madison, please don’t say things like that anymore.”
Upon hearing this, Madison’s face turned even darker.
But I knew that Antonio’s words were actually meant to distance himself from everything that had happened between

A humorless chuckle scraped up my throat.
