A year later, I gave birth to an adorable baby boy. Chubby–cheeked and bright–eyed, he looked just like Shawn did as a child. I named him Rowan, hoping he would grow to be like a lush forest, his life as vibrant as the trees.!

Shawn studied our baby for a long time before coming to a serious conclusion. “Maybe it’s because you’re such a great mom. He inherited the best from both of us.”

“Mr. Joshua Sinclair recently donated 50 million to a rural elementary school. We have invited Mr. Sinclair to say a few words.”
I looked up and our eyes seemed to be meeting through the television screen. Joshua’s empty gaze held an infinite sadness. “Actually, dedicating myself to charity was my late wife’s wish.
