“Even after you lost your memory and forgot about her, she never blamed you. She was sad, but she never once complained. Even when you were with Miss Solace, even when you deliberately hurt her, she still worried about you. She still snuck over in the middle of the night just to make sure you remembered to take your medicine.“}
“Mrs. Sinclair truly loved you. If she were still here, she’d still be worrying about you now.”
Tears welled up in Joshua’s eyes, falling uncontrollably like broken pearls. How could he not remember? That night, Evelyn brought him medicine and he deliberately said those hurtful things to mock her.
How could he not know? She had always been so gentle, so kind. Even after discovering his betrayal, she never once wanted to hurt him. She never even had the heart to let him ruin his own health.
Yet, what did he do? What had he done? He had been the one who killed Evelyn with his own hands. He was worse than an animal. Joshua clutched his head, slamming his fists against it as if he could beat his past self to death. However, nothing he did now could bring Evelyn back.}
