Chapter 8:
He tried to recall the memories of Taylor from the time they met until now. Yet, every time he closed his eyes, all he could see was Fiona. Her smiling face was bright, excited, serene and joyful.
When had Fiona taken over Taylor’s place in his heart? It seemed this feeling had attached and rooted itself a so long that he could not remember when it began.X
long t
time ago. It was
He and Fiona had been childhood sweethearts and they grew up together as neighbors. Protecting her had been his second nature. He even promised that Fiona would be the only one who could become his wife in the future.
All of these changed the moment Taylor entered the picture.
She was unlike any other girls that he had met before. Taylor was always timid. She kept lowering her head in front of him. For the first time, he felt something new a different thought than before. Perhaps, being with Taylor was not a bad idea!!
When he realized this, he began to pursue Taylor. He considered the protection he gave to Fiona as just the protection he gave to one of the members of his family.Z
His pursuit lasted four years. His entire youth in the university revolved around Taylor. However, every confession of love for her was met with rejection. He could only watch helplessly when Taylor fell into Gregg’s arm.
From then on, he became Taylor’s silent guardian. He did everything he could to ensure her happiness.
Although he knew Gregg was engaged to Fiona, he encouraged Gregg to propose to Taylor.
Even when Fiona’s mother was gravely ill, he betrayed Fiona to save Taylor’s mother.
However now, as he looked back, he realized his dedication to Taylor was nothing more than a habit. The one he truly loved had always been Fiona ||
This realization was like a poisoned thorn lodged deep in his mind and it caused him to feel so depressed.
As he struggled with these thoughts. Taylor’s call interrupted him and surprisingly, his first intention was to hang up and reject it.
His hand froze mid–air as tears streamed down his face.
He admitted that he had lost, but it was too late S
After he declined the call, Taylor messaged him. It was playful and sweet
[Matt, why you haven’t signed the shareholder’s contract yet?]
[Matt, why aren’t you answering my calls?
However, the more he read, the more imitated he felt. At this moment, any contact he had with Taylor felt like a betrayal to his wife.!!
His heart clenched as he thought about Fiona, who was still missing. He stood and left the office.
Finally, it was time for the authorities to officially file Fiona as a missing person. So, Matt filled out a police report
However, even though the police had reviewed all the traffic records, the police still did not find anything.
Matt was livid. “What are you talking about?” he said in a loud voice. “My wife’s been missing this whole time and you’re telling me there’s no record of her leaving? Where else could she have gone?
“Can’t find her in the records? Then check the surveillance footage! What’s the point of having police if you can’t do your job?” he said angrily.
