I was a joke.
Jake walked to the bed.
“I think you are messed up.
Are you hiding something?”
I didn’t answer.
He started teasing me.
“Your mom said that I was right for you.
She said to talk to you.
She said don’t break up with Darcy.”

He was waiting for me to get mad.
“Is your family like that?”
I wanted him to leave.
I got up to leave.
Jake grabbed my arm.
My shirt moved.
Jake looked at my neck.
He stopped.
He looked burned.
I couldn’t breathe, I felt shame.

I got a jacket.
I hid.
Jake stared at me.
I yelled, “Leave!”
