“Actually, yesterday I…” Thalassa was about to explain that she had been cleaning Mr. Sinclair’s office when she accidentally witnessed Faye confessing her feelings to Lysander.
“So, you skipped work yesterday morning, and in the afternoon when I asked you to clean up the top floor, guess what your did? You cleaned everywhere except Mr. Sinclair’s office. Are you planning to quit? Let me tell you, I personally check every day after work. I can tell at a glance whether you’ve cleaned or not. Don’t even think of slacking off!”
Before Thalassa could finish, Noreen beat her to the punch. Hands on hips, she shot her questions with a scrutinizing gaze. Taken aback, Thalassa blinked. It turned out she and director Noreen were talking about two different things.
She quickly backtracked, explaining. “No, director Noreen, Mr. Sinclair was working in his office all afternoon yesterday. I didn’t want to disturb him, so I didn’t go in to clean.”
“That excuse is acceptable. But from now on, you need to wait until Mr. Sinclair leaves, then you can clean his office and call it a day.”
Thalassa was taken aback. “What if Mr. Sinclair works overtime?”
“Then you work overtime too. Overtime is paid separately. If you ever leave without cleaning Mr. Sinclair’s office again, I’ll dock half a month’s pay!” Noreen laid down the law.
Thalassa managed a bitter smile. “Director Noreen, there might be other solutions…”
“I think this is the most feasible. It’s settled.” Noreen said, turning on her heel and leaving.

“Thalassa, come to my office!” Faye commanded, striding towards her office in her high heels.
With each step, she walked with confidence and allure, her charisma off the charts.
Thalassa put down her mop and followed.
Standing in front of Faye’s desk, she asked, “Faye, did you need something?”
Faye opened her phone and placed it on the desk, playing a recording.
The recording was of the conversation in the elevator just now, where some female employees were discussing Faye and Lysander.
