“What were you about to say?” Lysander asked.
“Nothing, just that the lobster is very fresh,” Thalassa responded without looking up; her expression was slightly crestfallen.
She had a burning desire to tell Lysander the truth that she wasn’t the daughter of Bruce.
She thought that by telling him, she could escape his control, stop being by his side, and end this shady relationship.
She was too naive.
She underestimated Lysander’s possessiveness. As long as he found her intriguing, she wouldn’t be able to escape his side.
And he certainly wouldn’t marry her as well.
She and Lysander were worlds apart. Just like Zephyr said, she, a woman from a humble background, wasn’t even worthy of entering the Sinclair family’s
door.
Her dream of giving her four kids a complete home was nothing but a fantasy.
So, why bother telling Lysander that Bruce wasn’t her father?
She might as well not say anything. In that case, at least he would despise her out of spite, feel irritated at the sight of her, and stop keeping her around when Lysander grew tired of her.
“Better eat up; the lobster is getting cold,” Lysander urged in a deep voice.
His deep-set gaze was fixated on her. They were still icy although devoid of anger.
Becoming Leopold’s aunt? Was that her excuse to get close to Leopold?
She even didn’t care what role she had to play as long as she could get closer to Leopold. He thought.
How could he let her flirt with Leopold under the disguise of the identity of his aunt?
What did she think of him? A wire that connected her and her tenuously linked lover, Leopold?
Could it be possible?
Thalassa pushed down the discomfort in her heart and started devouring the lobster. She needed to regain her strength.
She quickly finished most of the food on the table.
Setting down her fork, she said, “Can I go to Royal Estates to see the kids now?”
“Feeling steady?” Lysander asked.
Thalassa’s face flushed as he just cast a single gaze at her. She gave him a reproachful look, “That’s all your fault.”
“You never learn from your mistakes. Dare to do it again?” Lysander grabbed a napkin and casually wiped his mouth.
His voice was low and authoritative.
Thalassa said, “Whatever I do is wrong, whatever you say is right.”
She had given up resisting. Resistance would only result in harsher punishment.
Why make things hard for herself?
“You’ll still forget the lesson next time,” Lysander said as he stood up and moved behind her.
His tall, imposing figure instantly enveloped Thalassa; his oppressive presence made her hold her breath.
“What are you doing?” she asked nervously. The next second, she felt something cold around her neck.
She looked down to see a platinum necklace hanging around her neck. The pendant was the familiar cloud shape surrounded by diamonds.
This necklace was the one Lysander had given her before.
She had left it at her old rental when she ran away with the kids and had forgotten about it.
It had ended up back in Lysander’s hands. He must have found it when he tracked her down and took it from the house.
“Why are you giving me this again?” Thalassa asked, resistant because she knew the necklace had a tracking device.
