“Really? That suit belongs to Mr. Sinclair, I saw him wearing it today at the Sinclair group, and I can recognize it, Thalassa. If you’re dating someone, I wouldn’t mind, you don’t have to hide it from me.” Evelyn’s sharp gaze fixed on Thalassa.
“I wore it because… Thalassa was about to explain, but then saw four pairs of small, confused, and innocent eyes staring at her.
If she spilled the beans about being kidnapped and nearly losing her reputation, the kids would definitely be upset. She didn’t want her little angels to worry or suffer because of her. So she stopped the explanation, keeping the truth under wraps.
She picked up the spoon and continued serving salad, changing the subject, “I’ll return the suit to Mr. Sinclair tomorrow. Mom, your cooking is really tasty today.”
With that, she flashed Evelyn a bright smile, her eyes crinkling at the corners and two cute dimples appeared on her cheeks, making her look adorable and beautiful. Evelyn sensed her daughter’s reluctance and didn’t press further.
Considering the kids were still young, and knowing adult stuff could be harmful to their growth, she let it slide too.
“If you like it, have more.” Evelyn said, placing more food onto Thalassa’s plate.
That evening, Thalassa told bedtime stories to the kids.

She put down the storybook, cradled the children in her arms, cuddling them gently. Their soft little bodies smelled of milk, it was really. comforting.
The next day was Saturday, a day off from work.
When Thalassa woke up, it was already late morning, and the bed beside her was empty. The children were already up.
Sunlight poured in from the window, warming her face. She stretched, yawning lazily, having had a good night’s sleep. She got up, got herself ready, and after freshening up, she opened the door to see the four kids sitting on the sofa watching TV.

Just as she pulled out a yogurt from the fridge, her phone buzzed. It was a neighbor from the village.

Five years ago, a storm had collapsed Thalassa’s firewood shed and pigsty. Thalassa cleaned up the debris brick by brick, piece by piece. The neighbors were puzzled.
