“I’ll let you know when it’s time,” Lysander said, ending the call abruptly.
David’s hands clutched the steering wheel firmly as he carved out a moment to glance at Lysander. “Mr. Sinclair, where to now?”
Had Mr. Sinclair really instructed Fitch to stop picking up the kids for a while? Did that mean the kids were going to stay at Thalassa’s place for the time being?
Since when had Mr. Sinclair become so charitable?
Of course, that was a question he dared not voice out loud.
Lysander, massaging the bridge of his nose, looking a tad weary, replied, “The office.”
“Alright,” David responded, spinning the wheel to change direction. He took a quick glimpse of Lysander in the rear-view mirror. The usually stern and formidable man seemed enveloped in a faint air of melancholy today.
“Mr. Sinclair, it’s after hours. Are you heading back to the office to work overtime? You seem beat. Maybe you should head home and have a rest,” David blurted out, concern for his boss’s well-being.
“Are you missing Afriland now?” Lysander shot back a deep, penetrating look.
David clamped his mouth shut instantly.
Thalassa and Evelyn returned to Star Harbor Villa with the four kids in tow.
The children were buzzing around Thalassa and Evelyn, bouncing off the walls with joy.
“Mommy, I won first place in the preliminary round of the gourmet competition aga teacher said if I make it through the next round, I can compete abroad,” Elowen gust clutching Thalassa’s clothes, her dimpled smile utterly charming.
She was sharing her joy with her mom.
“Wow, our little Elowen’s going international! That’s amazing!” Thalassa pinched her chubby cheek.
“Yeah, I agree,” Elowen beamed with pride.
“Elowen, modesty is a virtue. Remember?” Dorian reminded her.
“Modesty? Is that something I can eat?” Elowen tilted her head in confusion.
Dorian sighed, “Foodie sees the world only through the lens of a menu.”
“I am a foodie, and I plan to taste all the delicious food the world has to offer,” Elowen

declared with pride, not in the least bit offended by Dorian’s teasing.
Watching the kids so full of life and adorably cute, Evelyn’s smile seemed soldered to her face, never once faltering.
The once quiet and empty house was now infused with warmth and life, reminiscent of days gone by-when they were strapped for cash but brimming with happiness.
“Thalassa, you play with the kids for a bit. I’ll go make dinner,” Evelyn offered.
Thalassa stopped her, “Mom, you play with the kids. I’ll take care of dinner.”
With that, she headed to the kitchen.
She could tell having the kids around lifted Evelyn’s spirits immensely.
She had tried to take Evelyn on vacation to relax, but to no avail.
But now, with the kids back, sparks had returned to Evelyn’s eyes.
Just let Evelyn spend more time with the kids. Thalassa didn’t mind taking on a bit more.
Thalassa whipped up the kids’ favorite curry chicken, crispy fries, and shrimp soup.
The family of six gathered around the dinner table, just like old times, enjoying their meal with laughter.
The kids were relishing every bite.
Thalassa watched them happily, but deep down, there was a knot of pressure that
wouldn’t dissolve.
Back when they were penniless, she never felt this burdened.
Unlike now, even amid the bliss, a sense of panic lingered, a reminder that the carefree joy of the past was no longer within reach.
