Onlookers had gathered arounsel, and amidst the crowd an enthusiastic voice could be heard calling out.
“What’s going on? Bullying a young lady?”
“She’s my daughter,” Eunice hurriedly said, herexpression filled with apology. “Im sorry for the trouble she’s caused everyone.”
Josephine immediately retorted, “She’s not my mother.
“Josic, how could you say that?” Eunice immediately put on a heartbroken look. “When you ran away from home, do you know how worried I was for you?”
While she wiped away her tears, she lamented to the people around her.
“This is my daughter, but she’s not right in the head, always acting recklessly and shamelessly. She frequently sneaks out to sleep with different men and has had seven miscarriages already. It’s enough to break a mother’s heart. Now, she’s stolen someone else’s dress, so I have no choice but to punish her, to teach her a lesson she won’t forget.”
As she spoke. Eunice pulled out a tissue, pretending to wipe away her tears.
Originally, there were people around who wanted to stand up for Josephine. However, when they heard she was not right in the end and was Eunice’s daughter, they all fell silent.
Some even started to point and gossip about Josephine, their gazes filled with disdain.
Josephine glanced around. She was completely surrounded by four or five bodyguards. Eunice was there, putting on a flawless act, gaining the moral high ground. There was no one left to help her.

After she finished speaking, she extended her hand to point at Eunice.
The shopkeeper had been enjoying the spectacle just moments ago. Knowing well that Josephine was a fool, he stormed over to Eunice in a fit of rage.
“Unless you pay up for your daughter’s actions today, don’t even think about leaving!”
Several store employees also rushed out from behind the counter, engaging in a scuffle with the bodyguards.
