Last night, she received a call from Michael, asking her to come over the next day.

Hearing his deep, magnetic voice over the phone, Winry was so excited she could barely speak. Even his voice carried a cold, restrained allure that made her blush and her heart race. She wished she could rip his clothes off right then and there..
Eunice pushed open the door, her face brimming with barely contained delight.
Winry hugged her mother joyfully, spinning in circles Mom, your idea was amazing! Mr. Jaywalker is finally coming around!”
Eunice was just as thrilled. “He should have married you in the first place. If it weren’t for Josephine meddling, you’d already be Mrs. Jaywalker.”
Winry lacked the skill to win over Michael during the engagement, so Eunice stepped in personally.. teaching her daughter how to “steal” a man.
The idea of slipping Michael a note yesterday also came from her.
When Winry came home and told her mother she’d seen Josephine shopping for clothes with a strange man, Eunice immediately realized it was a golden opportunity.
She told Winry to go straight to Michael and report it to him, adding that Josephine was only pretending to be simple–minded and had ulterior motives.
Since the two hadn’t met yet, planting this idea in Michael’s mind early would ensure that even if Josephine truly were innocent, he’d only see her as a scheming actress.

A sharp glint flashed in Eunice’s eyes.
She had long suspected that Josephine wasn’t simple–minded, but she had kept it to herself, ensuring that even Caiden was kept in the dark. She wanted Josephine labeled as a fool and left in the countryside so the latter wouldn’t get anything from her two daughters.
Now that the girl was playing dumb, Eunice decided to let her dig her own grave,
Having learned plenty from her mother, Winry was brimming with confidence, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
“Mom, today I’ll make Michael fall for my charms.”

However, after a long time browsing. Winry was still unsatisfied with every outfit.
She wanted to look her absolute best, hoping to captivate Michael with a single glance and make him fall
for her.
Just as Winry was meticulously picking through clothes her eye caught a figure in the distance, and she let out a shriek.

“Josephine, stop right there!”
Eunice’s face darkened as she also looked up.
Not far away, Josephine turned her head upon hearing he shout.
She saw Funice and Winry
Josephine had come out to buy some necessities and ain’t expected to run into these two
Winry’s gaze immediately landed on Josephine’s dress Jealousy surged within her.

It was the limited–edition dress from VITA that she had tried to buy at ten times the price, but the owner had refused to sell. Yet here it was on Josephine.
The white dress accentuated Josephine’s delicate and charming demeanor as if it were tailored for her. The sight made Winry seethe with envy and fury.
What a nuisance!
With a venomous glare, Winry stormed over, looking behind Josephine. “Tell me, where’s that sugar daddy you’re clinging to?”
Josephine took a step back, looking at her with confusion. “What on earth are you talking about?”
“Don’t play dumb with me. I saw you cozying up to some rich guy the other day!” Winry sneered mockingly. She vividly remembered spying on Josephine outside the VITA boutique and seeing a tall, dark, and unattractive man helping her carry her bags,
Josephine paused for a moment before realizing what Winry meant. She had mistaken her plainclothes bodyguard for a sugar daddy.
Not wanting Winry to learn anything about her affairs, Josephine replied coolly. “Think whatever you like.
With that, she moved to walk past her.
Winry was used to being spoiled at home. As such, she was infuriated by Josephine’s retort. As there was no bodyguard with Josephine, she raised her hand to slap her.
Josephine swiftly dodged with ease.
“How dare you dodge?” Winry shouted angrily.
Josephine looked at her as if she were an idiot.
Why would she stand still and let Winry hit her like a block of wood?
Eunice, who had been watching coldly from the side, had already determined that Josephine wasn’t simple–minded. Seeing her daughter being bested, Eunice approached, feigning concern.
“Josie, you’ve been away from home for days. Everyones worried about you. You must come home with me today.”
She gave a subtle signal. The bodyguards behind her moved to surround Josephine and grab her.

Winry quickly pulled at Eunice’s sleeve. “Mom, just be her up and let her go. Why take her back home? If Dad finds out, he’ll send her straight to the Jaywalker family.”
Eunice sneered, speaking in a low voice. “Don’t worry. Your father won’t know. Hasn’t Mr. Jedger been pestering you? We’ll hand her over to him. That way, she won’t run wild outside anymore. If Michael sees her and brings her back to the Jaywalker family, it’ll ruin your chances.”
Realizing that, Winry immediately went from worried to delighted.
