Third Person’s POV
Alpha Eros paced the length of his office, his fists clenched at his sides as his mind raced. The letter from Remi had left him seething, each word like a fresh wound. She had gone, taking nothing but her belongings, and the divorce papers were the final blow. His signature marked them, but he couldn’t for the life of him remember signing them. The fact that she had left without a word, without a trace, tore at him.
His eyes kept returning to the letter, the words no longer making sense in his rage. “I couldn’t stand this anymore. I’m done here”
He could feel the anger building in his chest, threatening to consume him. But what struck him hardest was the realization that Remi was pregnant. His hand instinctively moved to his stomach, the sensation of the bond now flickering weakly in the back of his mind. “My heir,” he muttered under his breath, as though speaking the words aloud would make them more real. His heir, and she was gone. The thought of it, of losing them both, twisted his gut in a way he couldn’t understand
“Where are you, Remi?” he growled to himself.
He strode out of his office, his anger and frustration fueling every step. His Beta was waiting in the hall, his expression unreadable as Eros approached
“Alpha,” he said quietly. “We’ve found no trace of her. No one has seen her leave the pack grounds, and the scent trails are gone.”
Eros clenched his jaw. “Keep looking! She has to be out there somewhere. You’re not stopping until she’s found.”
The Beta nodded and turned on his heel, knowing better than to argue. Eros didn’t wait to give more orders, already heading to the pack grounds to see for himself,
He walked through the compound, his eyes scanning every corner, every shadow. There was no sign of Remi. No scent, no clue as to where she had gone. His thoughts were running wild. He couldn’t shake the feeling that she had left for good, and the thought hit him like a freight train. She wasn’t just running away from him–she was runnin
away from everything they had built together.
A sudden voice interrupted his thoughts.
“Alpha.”
Daisy stood there, her bright smile as polished as ever, though her eyes held a certain smugness that set Eros on edge. She had always been there, a constant presence, trying to fill the void Remi had left behind. Her long hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her soft features held a calmness that contrasted sharply with Eros’s growing fury
“Daisy,” he muttered, his tone flat as he tried to steady his breathing. “What is it?”
“I can see you’re upset,” she said, her voice sweet and soothing, as if she were trying to comfort him “But maybe you’re overreacting.”
Eros turned to face her, his eyes narrowing. “Overreacting?”
Daisy nodded, stepping closer, her presence almost suffocating in its insistence. “Remi’s a drama queen, Eros. You know that. She was never happy with the way things were. She’s probably just sulking somewhere, seeking attention”
“Sulking?” Eros couldn’t help but snap. His hands fisted at his sides as his anger boiled over. “I don’t know anymore, fuck. She must be trying to get my attention, right?”
Daisy flinched, but quickly masked it with a smile, the kind of smile that made Eros want to turn his back and walk away. “Well, what else could it be? She’s always been insecure, and she’s always been jealous of me. I’m sure she couldn’t bear seeing me take the position she once had. She’s always been selfish, and I’m sure she’ll come back. They always do.”
Eros’s eyes narrowed. The words hit him hard, and for a moment, he wavered. He wanted to believe Daisy. He wanted to believe that Remi was just throwing a tantrum, but deep down, he knew better.
“She’s really nothing but a headache,” he muttered under his breath, more to himself than to Daisy. “I’ve made mistakes, but this… this isn’t like her.”
Daisy’s expression softened, but there was an edge to it, something sharp that made Eros uneasy
Eros took a step back, feeling the weight of the situation settle over him like a suffocating cloud. His chest tightened, and for the briefest moment, he allowed himself to think that perhaps, Daisy was right.
“Right She couldn’t leave without me. It’s impossible.” The words slipped out before he could stop them. “She’s too obsessed to leave just like that.”
Her face faltered for a moment, the mask slipping as hurt flashed across her eyes. But just as quickly, she replaced it with a tight smile. “You’ll come around, Alpha. You’ll see. She’s just throwing a tantrum. She’ll come back.”
But even as she spoke, Eros couldn’t shake the feeling that something was horribly wrong. His chest tightened, his heart hammering against his ribs. He had always trusted his instincts, and right now, every instinct in him was screaming that Remi was gone for good.
