I stared at the papers in my hands, still not fully able to comprehend what he meant. The DNA test results were clear–undeniably so. They told me that I wasn’t just some random orphan. I wasn’t just some wolf that had wandered into the kingdom. No, I was the real royal princess. The weight of that truth settled on my shoulders like a mountain, and for the first time since this whole chaotic mess began, I couldn’t breathe. My hands trembled as i looked up at Raegan, his expression calm, though I could sense the storm brewing beneath it.
“I don’t.. I don’t understand,” I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper. “How? How could this be real? H could-
Raegan’s eyes softened as he knelt beside my bed, placing a hand on my arm. “It’s true, Remi. You’ve always been the rightful heir. Bianca was never the princess. It’s you.”
I swallowed hard, the knot in my throat growing I wanted to be angry, to demand answers, but a part of me couldn’t deny the strange surge of hope that filled my chest. I had spent so many weeks questioning who I was, where I belonged, and now–now I had the answers.
I
“What about my baby?” I asked, my voice breaking slightly as I looked down at my still–flat stomach. My hand instinctively pressed to it, as if I could feel the little life growing inside me, though I had no real proof of it yet I hadn’t
exactly had the time to process everything that was going on.
Raegan’s expression softened even more, his gaze steady and reassuring. “You’re both fine, Remi. The baby’s health is just fine. Your body just needed to rest after everything that happened,”
I nodded, the words still swirling in my mind. There was so much to process. The baby, the kingdom, my true identity–all of it felt like too much. Too fast. I couldn’t think straight.
“I just… I need time, Your Highness. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with this. I don’t know what I’m supposed to be.”
Raegan gave a small nod, his thumb gently stroking my wrist in a comforting gesture. “Take all the time you need. But know this–I’m here. I’ll help you with whatever you decide.”
The door creaked open, and my eyes flicked to it instinctively. The Alpha King and Queen stood there, hesitant, watching me with an anxious look. I couldn’t meet their gaze, I wasn’t ready for them, not yet. The tension in the room thickened as I sat there, feeling like I was trapped between two worlds. Between the world I had known, and the
one that I now realized I was born into
Just as I opened my mouth to speak, Laurent entered without warning, pushing the door open wider. His eyes landed on me, and for a split second, I thought I saw relief in them–relief that I was awake, that I was alive. Before I could react, Laurent crossed the room in two long strides and wrapped me in a tight, unyielding embrace.
you.”
“Remi,” he murmured into my ear, his voice low and thick with emotion. “You’re awake. I was so worried about
I froze for a moment, unsure of how to respond. Laurent had always been there, always supportive, but the intensity of his hug, the warmth that enveloped me, made something stir deep inside of me. I wasn’t sure if it was comfort, or something more, but I didn’t pull away. I simply allowed myself to lean into him for just a moment.
When Laurent pulled away, his hands still on my shoulders, he gave me a soft smile. “You’ve been unconscious for days, Remi. Your royal power surged and overwhelmed you. It caused your body to go into a deep sleep to
recover.”
I blinked, the words not quite making sense. “Royal power?” I echoed.
Laurent’s smile faded slightly as he sat on the edge of my bed, his gaze soft yet intense. “You’ve always had it, Remi. The power of a true royal. You felt it since the ritual, right? You’re meant to lead this kingdom, to rule beside the Alpha King and Queen.”
I could feel my heart race at the mention of leadership, of the role I was supposed to take. But I couldn’t think about that now. Not with everything else going on. My head spun with too many questions. Too many doubts.
“But I don’t know… I don’t even know what to do with this information.” I rubbed my temples, trying to suppress
the headache that was threatening to split my skull. “I don’t know who I am anymore. I was just a nobody. Now, I’m…
I’ma princess. The true heir.”
Laurent’s expression softened even further. “You’re still the same person you’ve always been. But I understand your confusion. This is a lot to process.”
I nodded, my eyes clouding with uncertainty. Laurent was right, I had always had strength, but it had never been tied to royalty. It was something primal, something that came from within me. And now… now it was tied to something bigger. Something that could change everything.
“I don’t know what to do,” I muttered, not sure how to handle everything.
Laurent’s gaze hardened, but his tone remained gentle. “No matter what you decide to do, no matter where you go from here, I’ll stand by your side.”
