“You’re insane!” Grayson spat, glaring at Liam with a mixture of disgust and irritation. Watch your mouth! Don’t call Alice a tramp! And what’s this about Belle being dead? What kind of childish stunt are you trying to pull? Who would believe such ridiculous lies?”
He dusted himself off, his expression hard and unyielding, his tone dripping with contempt. “Go back and tell Belle this: if she comes to apologize to Alice, I might still forgive her. But pulling these petty tricks? It just makes me despise her even more.”
“You monster!” Liam shouted, struggling against the arms holding him back. “Belle is dead! She’s dead, and you’re asking her to apologize to this tramp? How can you even say such things?”
Grayson sneered, his disbelief etched deeply into his face. “Dead, you say? Don’t make me laugh. This is just another one of her schemes, and you’re all playing along. Do you really think I’m that gullible?”
My mother’s voice broke through, trembling with both anguish and rage. “Grayson, my daughter is gone! She’s dead, and you–do you even have a heart?!”
She looked at him as though she wished she could drag him into the grave to keep me company.
“Grayson,”
my mother–in–law added, her voice shaking as she held out my death certificate. “It’s true. Belle is gone. This is the proof.”
Chapter 7
But Grayson didn’t even glance at the paper. His expression remained cold and dismissive, his tone steeped in annoyance.
“You’d go so far as to fake a death certificate just to keep this charade going? Isn’t this a bit much? Aren’t you ashamed of yourselves?”
I stared at the man I had once loved with all my heart, a man who now felt like a stranger. This cold, unfeeling creature was my husband the same man I had devoted years of my life to, the same man I had trusted and loved. To him, I was nothing but a manipulative liar, capable of fabricating my own death just to spite him.
“Have you lost your mind, Grayson?” My mother–in–law’s voice trembled, the disbelief heavy in her words. “Who would joke about something like this? Belle is truly gone. Her body is at the funeral home right now. Come with me and see for yourself!”
Alice, her face pale as a sheet, chimed in with a voice full of false innocence. “Mom, I know Belle doesn’t like me, but there’s no need to make up such terrible lies to scare Grayson.” If I were still alive, I might have applauded Alice’s performance. Her acting was impeccable -what a waste of talent not to have pursued a career in the entertainment industry.
“You shameless tramp!” Liam roared, his fury unabated. “Shut your mouth! Both you Grayson know exactly what kind of filthy relationship you have going on!”
and
“Liam, shut up!” Grayson barked, his voice sharp with anger. “You and Belle are the ones sneaking around behind my back! Tell me, is her baby yours or mine?”
