Chapter 1
The Day I Found Out I Was Dying
There I was, clutching a crumpled brochure about “staying positive during cancer
treatment,” while my mate–Alpha Logan, my so–called soulmate–was busy playing doting husband to another woman.
And not just any woman. She was glowing, radiant, and very, very pregnant.
Amber, my wolf, snarled in my head, “He’s dead. Let me shift and rip his throat out.”
An hour earlier, I had telepathically reached out to Logan, saying I wasn’t feeling well and needed him to come to the hospital with me.
His reply? A classic:

“I’m in a meeting, love. Can it wait?”
Apparently, this meeting involved escorting Pregnant and Perfect into the obstetrics department. I watched as he helped her to a seat, brushing her hair out of her face with a tenderness that made me want to hurl–or maybe that was just the chemo talking.
I’ve known Alpha Logan for five years.
On our 18th birthdays, we shifted for the first time.
He walked toward me with unwavering determination.
“My mate.”
We were luckier than most–finding each other on the very day of our coming–of–age
From that day forward, Alpha Logan began relentlessly pursuing me.
We’ve been married for three years now From the days when he was just starting out, I stood by his side, helping him manage The Crystal Blood Pack until it rose to become the strongest pack in the Hungary region.
When he proposed, he cried, swearing that he would love me faithfully for the rest of his life.
For the past three years, he had kept his word, coming home every night no matter how late, remembering every anniversary and filling my life with surprises
I never thought he’d fall for someone else, not until I saw this with my own eyes.

Amber’s growling turned into full–on howling. “Melissa, you stood by this lying mutt for five years. FIVE YEARS. Now look at him! This… breeder!“.
“Breeder?” I echoed, incredulous.
“Yes! She’s practically flaunting her belly. I bet her wolf is laughing at us!”
The woman noticed me. I wasn’t sure if she recognized me, but she clung to Alpha Logan’s arm, gently caressing her belly and cooed softly:
“Honey, the pup just kicked me.”
Alpha Logan reached out to feel the baby’s movements, his face radiating genuine happiness.
Amber was losing it. “Let us shift! This

face!”
“No,” I snapped, trying to stay calm. But calm is hard when your wolf is practically pacing in your mind and your mate is acting like the lead in a bad soap opera.
Unable to take it anymore, I sent Logan another telepathic.
The first time, he rejected my telepathic.
then I sent him a telepathic again.
The second time, he exchanged a few words with the woman, then walked over to answer my telepathic near the restroom.
“Melissa, I’m in a pack meeting. Is something wrong?”

Alpha Logan’s voice was as gentle and warm as ever. If I hadn’t seen him with that woman myself, I might have truly believed he was in a meeting.
Thinking back to every night he’d claimed he had a meeting… had he been with her each time?
I swallowed my tears and spoke as calmly as I could. “Honey, the cherry blossoms in Stone city are blooming. I’d love to see them.”
“Melissa, I just took on a new project. It’ll take about a month. How about I accompany you after I finish it?”
Alpha Logan’s tone held no impatience. He was soothing me, as though I were the most precious thing in his life.

“Liar,‘ Amber hissed. “You’re swamped with a side chick, not pack business!”
I ignored her. I didn’t cry or make a scene. Maybe it was the nearness of death, but I felt an eerie calm. “Honey, today at the hospital, I saw someone who looked a lot like you.”
His pause was too long. Then, he found me. Our eyes met across the room, and his expression darkened. “Melissa,” he said sharply, “are you testing me?”
Testing him? Oh, buddy, this wasn’t a test. This was a full–blown pop quiz, and he was failing spectacularly.
Amber was practically foaming. “Let me claw his smug face.”
Even when his lie was exposed, his expression remained unchanged. He

glanced back at the woman.
“You know my parents want me to have an heir. The pup is due in a month, and after that, I’ll come back to you.”
Before we got married, he knew I couldn’t
Ve children. Back then, he’d looked at me
tenderly and said, “Melissa, I love you, You are my fate mate.not a child. As long as you’ll marry me, that’s all I need.”
I was incredibly moved by him.
His parents didn’t approve of our marriage, but Alpha Logan even threatened that if they didn’t agree, he would never marry.
I thought our love was real, but it turned out he’d already been secretly seeing someone
My eyes burned as the woman walked over

My wolf Amber was stunned.
Up close, I could see she bore a slight resemblance to me–only younger, more charming, her voice sweet as she looped her arm around Alpha Logan’s. “Honey, it’s our turn.”
I grabbed his arm. “Alpha Logan, I’m dying. I’m in the final stage of cancer.”
Alpha Logan gave me a deep look, obviously not believing me, and brushed aside my hand, saying, “We’ll talk about it later.”
And with that, he left me standing there as he escorted her into the exam room.
Amber whimpered, stunned silent for the first time. I stood there, gripping that useless brochure, feeling more betrayed than I ever

thought possible.
There wouldn’t be a later, Logan.
If you’d cared enough to ask the doctor, you’d know I only have a month left.
