Chapter 198
Pushing through the crowd, Skylar arrived before Christopher.
“Skye…”
Steven felt a bit worried when he saw Skylar. Why was she here? Looking at the ex–classmates
surrounding them, he knew for sure that Christopher had instructed them to inform Skylar. Witnessing Christopher’s shamelessness firsthand made him realize even more that Skylar had been deceived by him all those years.
At the mention of “Skye“, a flicker of anticipation flashed in Christopher’s eyes.
Finally, she had come!
He immediately turned around. “Skye, you finally came. I’ve been waiting for you. I know you don’t really
want to break up with me, right?”
Christopher portrayed the expression of a loyal, loving man vividly. Skylar realized why he had managed to deceive her so convincingly in her previous life. It was because he was very good at acting.
She had been naïve and inexperienced, never having seen the evil side of human nature. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been so thoroughly deceived and hurt.

‘Christopher, I know you have no shame, but I never expected you to be utterly shameless,” Skylar said as
she stood beside Steven.
Christopher’s strained facial muscles twitched slightly as he feigned deep affection. “Skye, I don’t understand. Did my poverty really put you off? Are you not willing to share weal and woe with me?
“They all say you’re a mistress. That person can give you immense wealth, but he can’t give you love or
marriage!”
He wasn’t stupid; he knew he couldn’t mention Joe’s name. If he did, he would get into trouble. He knew he wouldn’t be able to bear the consequences. He didn’t believe Joe would marry Skylar, as her background would not be up to his standards.
“Skylar is a kept woman?”
“Why is Christopher trying to win her back, then? What spurred him to do this?”
“Skylar is pretty. It isn’t surprising that she became a mistress. No wonder she doesn’t want to be with Christopher. We ordinary folks, with a measly monthly salary, barely have any money left after paying rent. I’d also like to have a sugar mommy support me.”
“Are women nowadays all so materialistic ? I used to think Skylar wasn’t that kind of person, but now it seems women are all the same. There’s no difference! None of them would endure hardships with a man.

Listening to these people slander Skylar, Steven rolled up his sleeves and glared at them fiercely. “Say that again and see what happens.”
“They can say whatever they like. Only incapable people would slander others just to vent their
frustrations. Steven, there’s no need to waste your breath on them. They’re not worth it.” Skylar’s voice was icy, and she showed no sign of panic.
Then, she looked at Christopher mockingly. “You booked a hotel room with Maisy and went shopping with her everywhere. Are you trying to deceive yourself or deceive me by playing a little trick like this?
“Now that you’ve wrongly accused me of being a mistress, do you feel better? You’re despicable and shameless. If you dare to spread rumors again, I’ll take you to the police station and sue you until you become bankrupt. Do you want that?
“Steven, record a video for me. Record the faces of all those who dared to spread rumors here today. For every accusation, I’ll file a lawsuit and make them pay. I’ll give them a taste of what it’s like to be the defendant in court and lose money.”
Steven didn’t take out his phone but pointed to the nearby camera. “Everything that just happened has been recorded by the ultra–high–definition camera. We can hear whatever they’ve said loud and clear.” Skylar had toughened up, but it saddened Steven to see this.
