In this foreign land, I could feel their unique concern for me, and I managed a smile in response. Yet I struggled to hide my own sense of loss. I thought maybe it was worth trying to share something, even if just a little.
“If you guys don’t have anything planned, could you come with me to the library?” I asked softly, standing as I stuffed my books into my backpack
William and Gabrielle exchanged glances before both nodded in agreement, willing to join me.
At the library, I wandered alone between the shelves, searching for clues that might relate to the paper crane in my hand. I knew it sounded absurd, but my intuition told me that the crane’s appearance wasn’t a coincidence. “What are you loolding for?” gabrielle asked softly, trailing behind me.

After sorting out the borrowing process, we took the book to a nearby pub.
The pub had a unique charm, filled with the scent of fruitwoods, reminiscent of a country band. The music was low and melodious, creating a tranquil and cozy atmosphere.

I was lost in the story until William and Gabrielle’s conversation broke the silence, and I realized the day had grown dark “It seems this book really means a lot to you,” Gabrielle awkwardly remarked, seeing me so absorbed in reading
I sheepishly closed the book Then I took out the paper crane and placed it on the table, positioning the book and crane at the same angle.
“I guess you’re both curious about it, so let me share the story with you.”
