Currently, 20% of the shares had been privately transferred from Mr. Burke to his wife. If the couple were to ever split, Burke International would surely face a drastic change.
“It’s fine, James remarked as he watched Sophie’s departing figure, his eyes darkening. “This is just a high–stakes gamble.”
Meanwhile, Sophie wanted to be cautious and returned to Russell Entertainment first to hand over the contract to Tricia.
Tricia glanced at the contract in confusion and asked, “Ms. Sophie, what is this…?”
“Take it to the legal department and have them thoroughly check for any loopholes in the contract.”
“Yes, Ms. Sophie.”
As Tricia was about to leave, Sophie frowned and said, “Wait a moment.”
“Yes?”
“Look into Nichole’s background for me, including her academic performance during middle and high school and her personal life as well.”
“Of course, Ms. Sophie.”
“Alright, you can go now.”
“Yes.”
After Tricia left, Sophie leaned back in her chair, exhausted.
When she heard someone knocked, she opened her eyes to see Reece standing at the door, saying, “You seem pretty tired today.”
“How come you’re here?”
Sophie glanced at the time, remembering that Reece was supposed to be on set.
“The shooting wrapped up early, and I saw you coming back to the office, so I came to check on you.”
Reece took a seat opposite Sophie.
Lately, Reece had been on fire, with his dramas being hot on various websites. His endorsements were also non–stop.
Now, Reece was indeed a top–tier male celebrity.
Sophie sipped her coffee to refresh herself. “Did you come to check on my current mental state?”
“I actually have something I wanted to ask you.”
“Oh? What is it?”
“Do you know Nichole?”
Sophie frowned, surprised that Reece would suddenly bring up Nichole’s name. As far as she knew, Reece and Nichole had no connection.
“As you know, my recent work has been related to S Corporation.”
Reece paused, seemingly gauging Sophie’s reaction, but Sophie remained silent, giving no indication she would interrupt.
He continued, “The other day, when I entered one of the media companies under S Corporation, I saw Nichole. I remember her being rumored as James‘ mistress and that you two don’t get along.”
“And?” Sophie listened quietly, her tone unvarying.
“Since it involved you, I paid attention.” Reece added, “Then I remembered that I know her.”
Sophie’s hand paused as she was about to take another sip of her coffee. She frowned at Reece. “You say you know Nichole? Where did you meet her?”
“Curious?”
“Of course, I’m curious!”
Sophie suddenly became more interested, and Reece’s smile deepened as he said, “Invite me to dinner tonight, and I’ll tell you.” Sophie’s enthusiasm immediately cooled. “You’re now a famous star. Are you still short on money for dinner?”
