Her eyes were devoid of any emotions but somehow made others feel that she was a very simple girl.
He looked away. “No. He’s fine.”
Relieved, she turned around to leave. “Alright then. I’m leaving”
His voice rang out behind her. “But I’ve got a question.”
She stopped in her tracks. “Yeah?”
He took his time, hands in his pockets, all calm and sure. “You’re not into Preston, are you? It’s about business, right?”
surprised, she turned back and looked at him.
Rocking his crisp academy uniform, he went on like it was no big deal.
He said calmly, “You’ve checked us all out, haven’t you? You know the seven familles around here hire security from outside firms. You’re trying to lock us in as clients. So why start with Preston!”
Boy kept his cool on the outside, but inside, he was a little ticked. “Why not start
with me”
Deadpan, she answered, “Because, among these people, you get suspicious the most easily. You’ll be wary if I approach you too hastily, so I put you last so that you can observe how I deal with the others.
“It’s kind of an advertisement for myself. And this way, I get to maximize my profits.”
Raising an eyebrow, Roy was intrigued. “You’re quite straightforward. Aren’t you worried I’ll get mad?”
She said truthfully and sincerely, “Since I want you to be my clients, I have to be honest. It’s one of my biggest selling points. If you choose us, I surely will treat you with Honesty and sincerity”
He snected. “It’s not quite sincere of you to plot against us.
She blinked, gemuinely thrown. “I work for a bodyguard gig. If I land all you guys as clients, Ill make bank keeping you safe. I’d put my Ime for that. How’s that not sincere!”
She held out her hand to him. “You know what? Give me a big order now, and I’ll show you your money is well–spent
Roy looked stunned.
“No?” She put down her hand, not at all surprised. Then she looked at him coquidently. “Fair enough. You haven’t seen what I’ve got yet. Asking you 10 drop millions on us outta nowhere’s a stretch. But don’t sweat it–you’ve got my trial pass. I’ll show you what I’m worth
Roy stayed silent, pondering her words.
Then he cracked a grin, entertained. “Can Teach in that trial pass now?”
She shook her head “No can do I have my plans. If you want to be prioritized, you have to give me more money”
Roy was at a loss for word for a moment.
Then she walked up to him and flicked the student council president’s badge pinned to his chest.

She rocked her chin confidently. “Sooner or later, it will be your turn, Roy. Be patient and wait in line.”

She smiled brightly, beaming.
Her smile amazed him, his deep eyes lighting up a bit.
It was a sweet smile, no edge to it. “Next time I swing by, maybe you’ll get that trial pass. Keep an eye out for me”
He pulled himself together and squinted, half–suspicious. “What, you trying to string me along?”
Her smile widened, but she didn’t answer–just turned and started walking off
Behind her, Roy called out, “You won’t succeed unless I want to work with you.”
Hearing this, she stopped and tilted her body to look at him out of the corner of her eye. “If I didn’t succeed, you’d ignore me and treat me like nothing instead of coming to me and peeking at me.”
Roy raised an eyebrow
She turned around, smiling, “You’ve been pecking at me. You think I don’t know that?”
The feigned calmness on Roy’s face vanished at once as he lowered his head, flustered.
Her smile grew bigger as she looked at him with interest; in her eyes, he was like a beast trapped in a cage. “What is it, Roy! You’re so smart. How could you not see that you’ve taken the bait?“.
Roy froze in place.
