Upon hearing her words, Zachary felt like his dignity was at stake.
After finishing his bath and changing clothes, he immediately went to his room.

Meanwhile, at Lane Mansion, Xavier received a message from the bodyguard saying that after Yvette had finished eating at the restaurant, she had returned to the mansion.
Both Daphne and Shannon noticed his absent–mindedness.
“Daph, since you’re here today, why not stay the night? Luke will be back tomorrow. He wants to see you,” Shannon suggested.
Xavier’s father, Luke Lane, was a womanizer. He was rarely home, despite being middle–aged now.
Daphne nodded shyly. “Sure.”
Xavier was indifferent to their conversation. He ate a few bites and left the dining table.
“Xav, where are you going?” Shannon asked in confusion.
“Home.”
Shannon was stunned. She knew he was referring to Dewberry Manor. That was the place he had lived in ever since he had gotten married to Yvette. How could it be considered home?
“Stay over tonight. Luke will be back tomorrow, and we can discuss your marriage with Daph together.”
A hint of coldness flashed across Xavier’s eyes. “I’m not divorced yet, so what marriage are you talking about?”
Shannon’s heart sank.
Daphne’s expression remained the same, but her grip on the fork tightened. Yvette had been dead for years, so did it really matter if they were divorced or not?
As Xavier was about to leave, she followed him. “Xav!
Xavier stopped.
Daphne walked up and said affectionately, “Xav, did I do something wrong? Why won’t you accept me even now? I’ve waited for you for eight years, from the time Yvette got married to you until now.
“I was afraid I wasn’t good enough for you, so I worked hard. It took me so long to get where I am now and approach you again.”
As she spoke, she reached out to hug Xavier, but he dodged her.
Daphne stood frozen in place. Then, she heard his cold voice. “Have I ever denied you any of the resources you’ve asked for over
years? Be content with what you

Xavier got into his car and left, leaving Daphne alone in the dark.
At the same time, Shannon came out. She looked at Daphne coldly.
She mocked Daphne relentlessly, “Four years ago, you came to me with a health report, saying you could give birth to the Lane family’s first grandson within a year. That’s why I allowed a mere actress like you to get close to Xav.
“Now, four years later, not only have you not had a child, but Xav doesn’t even want to lay a finger on you. At least Yvette managed to get married to him!”
Xavier had already left. After Shannon ridiculed Daphne, she didn’t let the latter stay.
Daphne was left alone outside. She could only call Kelly to pick her up.
As they passed by Golden Moon Restaurant, Daphne couldn’t help but take a few more glances at the
restaurant.
“Daph, what’s wrong?” Kelly asked in confusion.
Thinking about the grievances she had suffered at Lane Mansion today, Daphne clenched her fists in frustration.
“Release the news that I went to Lane Mansion with Xavier today.”
“Got it.”
Meanwhile, back at Kiki’s private villa, Zachary claimed to be tired and returned to his room to rest.
As soon as he closed the door, he turned on his laptop. As he tapped on the keyboard, tons of information about Xavier appeared on the screen.
