Not wanting to waste her breath with Xavier, Yvette pressed a check into his hands. “I’ve made the payment, so I’ll be taking this now.”
Xavier held the check as he watched Yvette leave without even turning her head.
“Keep an eye on her!” he ordered.
After Yvette returned to Mansions Nine, she stood on the balcony and downe lass after glass of wine.
Back then, she hadn’t had the habit of drinking. However, after she had left the country, whenever she felt like she couldn’t do it alone anymore, she would use alcohol to numb herself.
After Zachary and Noah had been born, Yvette had slowly begun to change this bad habit thanks to their company. However, after seeing Xavier that day, she lost control again.
She hadn’t been lying when she said that she had lost her
memory.
During the period of time after she had left the country, her body had been put under immense burden.
She had been dealing with pregnancy on top of her depression, so her memory had gotten worse. There were many times when she had intermittently forgotten Viola as well.
During that time, she had suffered greatly.
Sometimes, she would regress to the time in her childhood before James‘ death.
Sometimes, her mind would go back to her school years or the time she had been married to Xavier.
Once, she had even forgotten that she had gotten divorced from Xavier and that she had faked her death to go abroad. All she remembered was that they had just gotten married.
Thus, despite her pregnancy, she had bought plane tickets back home so that she could find Xavier. That day, she had nearly returned tr rion.
Fortunately, at the airport, she had seen photos of Xavier and Daphne at a ball. That was when she had realized that the
two of them were over.
Those memory lapses would give her hope, then take it away over and over again. Only those who had experienced it before would understand how painful that was.
She had always known that Xavier didn’t love her. The reason he had kept trying to find her over the past four years was simply because he couldn’t accept that she had left and held a grudge against her.
Thus, she chose to pretend that she had lost her memories. She wanted to get Xavier’s sperm without having to do it with him.
Her phone went off, interrupting her train of thought.
She grabbed it and heard a man’s deep and alluring voice. It was Claude. “How did it go?”

“Well, the first step can be considered a success,” Yvette replied.
Claude sensed that her voice sounded a little off. He frowned and said, “Are you drinking again?”
“No, I haven’t drunk in a long time,” Yvette lied.
Claude hummed. After a long pause, he continued, “If you’re facing any difficulties, I’ll come back-”
Before he could finish his sentence, Yvette interrupted him. ” There’s no need for that. You have to believe me. I can handle this.”
After all these years abroad and getting to know him, she had learned that Claude wasn’t an ordinary guy. He practically didn’t have any down time. She didn’t want to waste his time with her own affairs.
“Just remember that you have to contact me immediately if you need to.”
“Okay.” With that, she hung up.
She looked at the empty wine bottle on the table before tossing it in the trash.
Then, she turned the television on to chase the sense of loneliness away. An entertainment news program was being aired at the moment.
“Daphne, your transition from singer to top celebrity is suspected to be related to Xavier Lane, the CEO of Lane Group. It’s said that you two have been in a secret relationship for over a decade…”
Over a decade.
Yvette laughed self–deprecatingly.
If the two had been in a relationship that spanned over a decade, then what did the three years that she had spent married to Xavier during that time mean?
At that moment, someone video called her. Yvette picked up the phone to see that it was a call from Noah.
After confirming that she didn’t appear intoxicated, she answered the call. Otherwise, if she got caught, he would nag her again.
