My parents didn’t listen to me at all. Instead, they rushed over and slapped me hard across the face. “You ungrateful brat! Shut up! What nonsense are you spouting? Who’s scheming here?” my father roared. “What’s wrong with your sister trying to save someone out of good intentions?” my mother snapped. “What’s
wrong with eavesdropping? We didn’t say or do anything wrong!”
Her voice rose as she pointed an accusing finger at me. “I get it now–you’re just jealous of your sister! You deliberately spread rumors to Mr. Kramer to frame her!”
“We raised you, fed you, gave you everything, and this is how you repay us?” My father added, his tone dripping
with indignation. “You’re nothing but an ungrateful wretch!”
“Where were you all this time, huh?” my mother pressed on. “Sneaking around, plotting to bring your sister
down? Has your conscience been eaten by a dog? She’s your sister, for heaven’s sake!”
Their shameless accusations made my blood boil. Whatever affection I had left for this family evaporated
entirely at that moment.
I covered my stinging cheek and stared at them, my voice cold and unwavering.
“I moved out to rest and recover–what does that have to do with me? If Mr. Kramer discovered your dirty tricks,
it’s because the truth always comes out. Did you really think you could keep lying forever? You schemed, and now
you’re facing the consequences!”
I took a step forward, glaring at them. “Mr. Kramer sent that bug long ago. He’s known about your conspiracy
from the start. The only fools here are you two, completely in the dark while Julia played you like puppets!”
“And yet, you still defend her. What’s wrong with you? Is she the only child that matters? Am I not your daughter
either? What crime did I commit by refusing to support her scheme against an innocent child?”
I straightened my back, my voice steady despite the whirlwind of emotions. “The poor may have little, but we still have dignity. At least I can live with a clear conscience.”
The crowd of neighbors, who had been listening silently, collectively gasped. Whispers and murmurs erupted
around us.
“I was wondering how it could all be such a coincidence,” one neighbor said. “Old Reid worked at that site for years, and she never delivered food before. Then, on the very day Mr. Kramer’s child got hurt, she just happened to show up? It all makes sense now–it was staged!”
Another chimed in, “To harm someone else’s child and then pretend to be a savior? And to think she even ed
about it online! Who would stoop so low?”
“That’s the Kramer family!” a third voice added. “Did she really think they’d let this slide? And now she’s blaming
her sister to cover her tracks? No wonder Alice has been bullied by them all these years–she’s the only decent
person in that family!”
The mounting chatter seemed to crush my parents, who stood frozen as their faces turned ashen.
Then Julia, who had remained silent until now, suddenly pointed at me and shouted at the bodyguard, “She’s Julia! She’s the one who delivered food to the construction site that day! Take her! She’s the one Mr. Kramer is after!”
My parents‘ eyes darted to each other in panic before they quickly chimed in, “Yes, yes! That’s Julia! She’s our

“I’m Julia?” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “Dad, Mom, the neighbors are all here. They’ve watched me
grow up. Do you think they can’t tell who I am?”
I took a deep breath and glared at them. “How far will you go? What did I ever do to deserve this? What kind of
parents are you to treat me like this?”
Before they could respond, the bodyguard’s phone rang, cutting through the tense air. He checked the screen, his expression darkening.
“Master Kramer is urging us to bring her over immediately,” he said, his tone sharp.
The bodyguards, now impatient, ignored the ongoing argument. The lead one stormed forward, shoving my parents aside with enough force to send them stumbling.
“Enough with the nonsense!” he barked, his face contorted with rage. “Which one of you is Julia? If you’re
playing games with us, you’ll regret it!”
My parents hesitated, their faces pale as they glanced back at Julia, who was trembling and trying to shrink out of sight.
