They had been high school classmates, and she had been willing to travel thousands of miles to seek out Frederick for surgery. It was clear that she trusted him deeply
But it wasn’t until that night, when she visited his house and accidentally glimpsed his computer desktop, that a thought began to form in her mind: Does Mr. Hale like me?
If he did, then why hadn’t they been together all this time?
Mira quietly watched the man beside her, his sharp facial features and calm demeanor matching every standard
she had ever imagined for a partner
“Mira.” Frederick’s voice was low, and his Adam’s apple bobbed as he spoke, his gaze steady as it met hers. I’ve always liked you. To be more precise, I’ve had a crush on you and Ive been ready to never give up, no matter what.”
Mira’s heart skipped a beat She felt the weight of his words, but she also noticed the hesitation there. He
continued.
*But I never expected that you would come all the way to the UK for surgery because of something I said.” She lowered her eyes, shyly but resolutely mustering the courage to speak. “You like me… but why didn’t you
confess?
Her voice was soft but earnest. “I don’t remember how we were before, but after spending this month with you, I think you might just be my ideal type ”
Frederick was gentle, calm, talented, and knowledgeable. His interests aligned with hers in so many ways. Mira. couldn’t understand why she hadn’t noticed this before.
O
“Because you.” Frederick’s voice faltered, then he paused, as if searching for the right words “Because you rejected my confession back then. You said your studies came first, and I… I ended up going abroad.”
He recalled how, before the surgery, Mira had told him not to remind her of Elias. He didn’t want to stir memories so soon after her recovery
“Impossible,” Mira said firmly, her voice steady. “You’re so amazing. How could I have rejected you?” Frederick felt the heat rise to his ears.
up painful
In that moment, he realized just how helpless he was in the face of Mira’s warm, straightforward sincerity. Her eyes held such honesty and warmth, there was no room for doubt
“Mr. Hale,” Mira said softly, her voice filled with hope. “Let’s be together.”
Frederick’s heart fluttered as his eyelashes trembled slightly. It was as though he had been enveloped by sweetness, a feeling he had longed for in countless dreams.
How many nights had he spent thinking about his gentle, intelligent junior sister? The one who had always looked at him with such admiration and shared a quiet smile, now asking him to be with her
Sometimes, Frederick would feel a pang of regret. What if I had met Mira first?
He’d go to any lengths for her, willing to face any challenge just to see her happy, to make her the happiest person in the world
But now, in an almost cruel twist of fate, Frederick couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of luck At least Elias, that fool, didn’t know how to appreciate Mira and lost her. Now, I have a chance.
“Mira, do you really… like me too? Do you want to be with me?” Frederick held his breath, a wave of happiness so intense that it almost felt unreal.
“Of course,” Mira replied, her voice steady and sure.
She knew what love was now. When she had seen that photo of the two of them from high school on Frederick’s desktop, an overwhelming joy surged through her. So, he really does like me.
The realization made her heart race with excitement and a hint of shyness.
After the New Year’s celebrations, she would be 28 years old. How many more years could she afford to waste? She had once rejected Frederick because of her studies, but now, she just wanted to hold on to this happiness and make sure she left no regrets.
“Mira,” Frederick said softly, his voice thick with emotion. “Do you know how long I’ve waited for this day?”
He took a deep breath, and in the next instant his lips met hers
The kiss was light, soft–like a dragonfly skimming the surface of water.
Her ears turned pink as she pulled away, her gaze drifting out the window as if nothing had happened. Frederick smiled, his heart racing. He leaned in closer, his voice a mere whisper. “Mira, can I kiss you again?“
