However, an unexpected guest appeared at the Allen residence before they could find a suitable kidney donor.
It was the drunk who had been guarding my grave at the private estate.
He had come specifically to see Grayson.
Then, he handed him a piece of evidence.
“Inside, you’ll find the answers you’re looking for.
“About how Ms. Nelson died.”
My Husband Asked Me to Donate a Kidney to His Childhood Sweetheart
“Inside, you’ll find the answers you’re looking for.
“About how Ms. Nelson died.”
This time, the drunk was completely sober. He had no bottle in hand, no trace of intoxication.
He had waited three years for this moment.
Grayson frowned at him. “Are you Mila’s friend? Why are you helping her so much?”
The drunk gave a self–mocking smile.
“I told you, she saved me.
“If it weren’t for her getting me a doctor and giving me food, I would’ve died of illness long ago.
“How else could I avenge her?
“I suggest you take a good look at what’s inside, and you’ll see just how innocent Ms. Nelson was when she
died.”
The drunk handed over a USB drive.
Grayson didn’t go home. Instead, he checked into a hotel and plugged the USB into his laptop.
An hour later, Grayson’s entire body was cold, his hands and feet numb.
His face had turned pale.
“Chloe!”
Floating beside him, I could see clearly. The footage the drunk provided was from the villa’s security camera.
Chloe had gone to the gym and caused her own miscarriage, but she blamed me.
Grayson, in a fit of rage, threw me out of the house and imprisoned me in the private villa.
I had no freedom, unable to take even one step outside the villa.
Someone came daily to bring me food.
Two months later, Chloe stormed into the villa with her people.
She used the pretense of having a heart–to–heart to lure me to the top–floor balcony, where she declared her
determination to become Mrs. Allen.
Then, while I wasn’t paying attention, she shoved me down.
At that moment, she deliberately called Grayson to taunt me.
Grayson’s voice was soft, asking if she’d eaten, calling her “baby.”
Almost simultaneously, the wind rushed past my ears as I fell heavily from the air.
I thought for sure I’d die falling from that height.
Looking back now, I wish I had died then.
Unfortunately, I was only left half–paralyzed.
Chloe wasn’t satisfied and hired people to take turns assaulting me before burying me alive.
All of it was caught by the villa’s security cameras.
Chloe knew about the footage but thought it posed no threat to her, so she spent a fortune to have it destr
The drunk had spent his entire fortune to buy the footage at that time.
He just wanted to avenge me one day.
That night, Grayson didn’t go home. Instead, he took his bodyguards to the private estate.
There were many informants he had stationed there.
Over the past three years, some bodyguards had suggested Grayson send more informants to keep an eye on me, even just to supervise.
But Grayson refused them all.
He laughed coldly, saying there was no need to waste extra manpower or resources on me.
But now, he was consumed with regret.
Grayson rushed to the private estate to question the informants.
The informants were shocked to see Grayson.
Grayson hadn’t been there in three years.
They had thought he didn’t care about his wife’s life or death.
They never expected him to return with red eyes, demanding to know everything that had happened.
It was only then that Grayson learned Chloe had come to the estate two months after I was imprisoned.
She thought her money could silence everyone.
She brought her bodyguards to kill me and paid them millions to keep quiet, thinking it would settle everything. But one of them, Tom, had benefited from my kindness and long wanted to clear my name.
“Mr. Allen, Ms. Nelson left a letter before she died, asking me to give it to you.”
Grayson took the letter with trembling hands.
I didn’t dare leave the letter in the villa. If Chloe had found it, she would have torn it to shreds.
I gave it to Tom.
I told him that if he ever had the chance to see Grayson, he must give him the letter.
I didn’t expect to wait three years for that to happen.
In that letter, I explained all the misunderstandings from those years.
On the surface, Chloe seemed to adore and love Grayson. In reality, she was only after his money and status.
She miscarried because she was secretly meeting her gym trainer.
They got carried away, causing her pregnancy to become unstable, and she miscarried. She blamed me for it.
What’s more, the child she lost wasn’t even Grayson’s.
Years ago, when Grayson needed a kidney transplant, it was my kidney that saved him.
But Chloe took the credit for it.
That was the start of the growing distance between Grayson and me.
He misunderstood. He thought that I was heartless, selfish, and didn’t love him enough, believing I just wanted to
leave him with our child.
He was convinced that Chloe loved him than life itself, that she valued him above all else.
Grayson enjoyed feeling needed. Chloe played right into that, making him feel protective and fulfilled.
And all of this only pushed Grayson and me further apart.
After learning Chloe’s true nature, Grayson clenched his teeth in anger.
“Chloe, you will pay for deceiving me!“”
He gripped the letter I had left tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.
”
“Mila, I was wrong…”
But I could no longer forgive him.
