“I don’t know why you have to go for a check–up on our wedding anniversary,” Lance’s whining voice came from
the bathroom,
I chuckled as I wore my dress, “Because, baby, our baby needs to be in good condition.”
Lance pouted as he stepped out of the shower, “Our baby is always in perfect condition. One day isn’t going to change that.”
I chuckled as I kissed Lance, “I have to go baby while you need to round up the preparation for our anniversary”
Lance sighed as he held onto my waist, “I hate that I’m not coming with you to the hospital.”
I chuckled, “I know baby, but you have to attend the meeting on our behalf and close the deal else we’ll lose
millions of dollars and even our baby will be upset with us.
“Alright, be careful. I love you.”
“I love you too,” I smiled as I walked out.
As the driver drove me to the hospital, I rubbed my stomach and I couldn’t help but smile.
It’s been one year since we heard the dark news of what Andrew did. Time had seemed to run fast as I had another wedding with Lance, Kira got discharged from the hospital and confined to a mental asylum because she couldn’t cope with the trauma of losing her child and what Andrew did to her.
After that I haven’t heard anything about her again and my life has been total bliss. I went on a long honeymoon with Lance and two months after we got back I found out I was pregnant
The doctors were surprised at this but they placed me on a mandatory three day hospital call to make sure that the baby was healthy and in a good position.
I was seven months gone today and it was also our wedding anniversary and another day I had to show up for a- scan at the hospital. This was the first time I was going alone.
It was either my parents, Adam, or his parents if Lance wasn’t available but today they were all busy trying to throw the perfect anniversary and baby shower for me.
I appreciate their effort and I was grateful that I was finally happy. After all those years I spent with Andrew. Lance showed me what true love means.
“We’re here, Mrs. Walter,” the driver’s voice sounded, jolting me from my thoughts.
“Thank you,” I smiled and got out of the car.
I went inside the hospital and headed to see my gynecologist. I was already a frequent visitor at the hospital so! didn’t need any formal routine
The doctor was pleased to see me and twenty minutes later I was ready to leave. He told me my baby was doing well and I could go
As I stepped out of the doctor’s office, I headed to see two women who had given birth recently I gave them the gifts I packed for them and they thanked me.
Smiling. I made my way to the car park but I couldn’t find my driver when my phone rang. I smiled when I saw it was Lance.
“Hi hubby,” I grinned,
“Where are you?” he asked in a hasty tone
I frowned, “Car park, what’s wrong?”
“Go back into the hospital right now, Lily. Kira broke out of the asylum, I’m on my way to you right now. Your driver isn’t picking up, I’m five minutes away,” he said but I wasn’t listening again because standing before me was Kira, her eyes bloodshot, her dress stained with blood and her hair tattered.
lips.
“Lily, can you hear me?” Lance’s voice sounded frantic.
“Hello, Kira,” I managed to say.
Lance inhaled sharply over the phone. “Don’t hang up, baby, I’ll be there soon I promise.”
“Hang up the phone right now, Lily, or you’ll be just like your driver,” Kira said, her voice low with anger.
My eyes widened when I saw my driver’s body, he was in a pool of blood lying beside Kira.
“Lily, no “I hung up the phone and tossed it toward Kira.
“We can sort this out, Kira, you don’t have to commit more crimes,” I said to her.
Kira chuckled, “I waited, Lily, I waited to be your karma.”
I frowned, “What do you mean? You’re the one who got me ruined.”
Kira scoffed, “Not entirely but I’m here to make sure of that.”

That’s when I saw the baseball bat that she was holding and I shook my head as a strangled sob escaped my
“No please, Kira,” I cried, my hands going to my stomach.
Kira chuckled like a maniac, “The irony, eh, I was seven months pregnant when Andrew beat me with a baseball bat. Do you know what he kept saying all through?”
I shook my head, holding back the tears that were threatening to fall, “Please, Kira.”
“Yes! I begged him, Lily but he said this was the only way to appease Lily. He did it for you, he almost killed me for you and I watched as he burnt himself alive for you. Do you know his screams haunt me till this day?”
I didn’t wait to see what she would do, I ran toward the hospital door while Kira stood chuckling like a maniac. I found out the door was locked as I kept banging on it, crying.
Just as Kira swung the baseball bat to hit me, I shielded my stomach with my body. But the pain never came as
heard the sound of a car and Kira jumped out of the way
Lance rushed out of the car, ran toward me and hugged me. Then my eyes widened and before I could shout out a warning, I heard a sickening crack as the baseball bat hit Lance’s head.
I let out a scream as the police arrived at that moment. Kira tried to run but she was shot and killed. The next
twelve hours were the most gruesome moment of my life.
My parents, Adam, and Lance’s parents all supported me as we waited in the hospital. Lance was undergoing surgery. Finally, the doctor came out
“The surgery was successful. The patient is awake and asking for his wife,” the doctor said.
With tears running down my cheeks I ran into the ward and hugged Lance who groaned in pain. I pulled away and apologized.
“You scared me!” I cried, staring at his bandaged head
He chuckled, “I’m not leaving you to celebrate our anniversary alone.”
I laughed as he wiped my tears. “Hopefully next year’s anniversary isn’t going to be as eventful as this.”
Lance smiled and kissed me, “I love you, Lily, forever. And I love our baby.”
My smile widened even though tears were still streaming down my cheeks
“I love you and our baby too, Lance, always and forever.”
A knock sounded on the door as our parents poked their heads in.
“Can we come in or are y’all still lovey–dovey?” Adam asked.
I and Lance chuckled as they came inside.
“Well, today has been eventful. You and Lance are always having an eventful day on your special days,” my father Commented.
I sighed, “it’s got to stop. This will be the last event, it’s becoming exhausting.”
“Wait… does this mean we aren’t gonna party and eat cake again?” Adam asked
Everyone burst into laughter.
