I turned to see Lance staring at me and I sighed. He had heard what I said to Andrew. This fucking bastard was still managing to ruin my life.
“Did you mean what you said just now?” he asked me
Aside from the concern shining in his eyes, I couldn’t decipher if he was going to bolt the moment I admitted it or if he would stay.

Andrew suddenly spoke with such venom I hadn’t expected.
“Yes, Lance. She’s barren so leave her alone because she’s my wife!”
I was still
reeling from the shock of his words when he grabbed my hand roughly, his eyes wide with madness. “Let’s go home, Lily. I’m the only one who would be with you. No one would agree to marry a barren woman,” he
Before I could slap his hands off me, Lance was beside me in an instant as he threw a punch at Andrew, knocking him to the floor.
“You bloody bastard!” Lance snarled.
I’ve never seen Lance so angry as he punched Andrew continuously until I pulled him off, scared he would kill him.
“That’s enough,” I cried.
Lance was panting furiously then he stared at me and his eyes softened.
“I’m so sorry you had to see that,” he apologized, clearing his throat as he adjusted his shirt. “I just couldn’t bear him talking shit about my wife.”
My eyes widened as tears formed in them, “Your wife?”
Lance smiled, “Of course. Unless you don’t want me again.”
“You still want to be with me even though you know that I can’t have children?” I asked.
He shrugged, “I want to be with you, Lily, no matter what the circumstances or the future holds.”
“Oh my gosh!” I exclaimed, tears running down my cheeks, “I don’t deserve you.”
Lance kissed my forehead and shook his head, “No, wifey, I don’t deserve you. This world doesn’t even deserve you because you’re a kind and beautiful soul. You deserve all the good things in this world, love, and if you give me the opportunity I would like to make you happy for the rest of your life.
The tears were running down my cheeks now as I hugged him and nodded, jumping happily in his arms while butterflies fluttered in my stomach. I never thought I would feel this way again.
*Fine! I will make it up to you, Lily, whether you like it or not,” Andrew grumbled.
He stood up with his battered face and smiled at me, “You know I love you
G
I scoffed, “If you want to make it up to me, Andrew, maybe you should set yourself on fire. I never want to breathe.
the same air as you ”
Andrew smiled bitterly before he stumbled out of my compound then I turned to Lance.
“I was so scared to tell you yesterday that was why I ran,” I said.
He frowned, “You thought I would end our marriage because of this? Baby, as long as you always want me I will
be here.”
be here.”
His words were like music to my ears, they were too good to be true but I knew he was the right man for me because he’s stood beside me even at my worst time and he didn’t leave.
“I’m so lucky to have you,” I smiled.
He chuckled, “No, I’m the lucky one.”
“I need you to understand that the doctor said there’s a chance I may never be able to have kids, Lance. We won’t have our own children,” I stated just to be certain he knew what he was getting himself into
Lance shrugged, “And there’s also a chance that we will be able to have our own children.”
“It’s very slim,” I said sadly
He shrugged, “Whatever it is, baby, we have a lot of options. We can do surrogacy, IVF, we can even adopt. Don’t stress yourself over this.”
I smiled when suddenly I heard Adam’s voice behind us.
“Kiss already,” he shouted,
We burst into laughter as I turned to see my parents and Adam peeking at us through the window. Before I knew it Lance wrapped his arms around my waist and closed the space between us.
The kiss was all I needed to confirm that I was feeling something for Lance. The kiss was warm and fuzzy, filled with comfort and sparks and fireworks. The kiss was his declaration of love that no matter what he would stand by my side
“I came here to tell you that my parents are demanding we do another wedding so both families can attend,” he said when we pulled apart.
My parents came out and shouted, “Supported
I chuckled and nodded, “I guess we can put something together for them.”
Lance kissed my forehead as he led me inside, “Well, I have to go arrange a second wedding. But I will keep texting to know how you’re doing.”
I nodded as he left. The rest of that day I was texting with Lance to the point my thumb started painting me. My brother teased me and my parents were happy.
But toward nightfall, we heard some bone–chilling news. Kira was bailed from prison on bail by Andrew who took her home and beat her with a baseball bat till she almost died. Then he set himself on fire and died.
Kira was rescued and she’s currently in a coma. She was operated on but her baby didn’t survive. All the police saw was Andrew’s burnt–up body
