Terrence remained silent, making no effort to explain himself.
Just then, the director pushed the door open and spotted me with Terrence. His brows furrowed in confusion.
“This is…?”
His gaze flicked to Bruce, and he quickly clarified, “They came here on their own. This has nothing to do with
me.”
I instantly understood. The contract had already been signed. Even if Bruce had impressed the director, it wouldn’t change anything.
Bruce, confused, stepped forward and grabbed the director’s arm. “What’s going on? What are you talking
about?”
The director shook him off. “I already told you–I will not cast you in this project.”
“Why not?! Give me a chance! Even if it’s just a supporting role!”
It was as if he couldn’t understand plain words, still clinging to the director, desperate for an answer.
Looking at his pathetic appearance, I sighed. “When I sold the rights, I made one condition.”
Bruce’s eyes filled with disbelief. “What condition?”
“That you would never be in this film,” I flatly said.
Bruce looked at me as if I had just shattered his entire world.
“No… That’s impossible…” he stuttered. “We grew up together. How could you write a script and not even
consider me for a role?”

My Childhood Sweetheart Regrets Everything After I Dumped Him
“You told me I was your inspiration!” His voice trembled with barely restrained emotion. Then, as if realizing
something, he turned abruptly, pointing at Terrence. His expression darkened.
“It’s because of him, isn’t it?!” His voice dripped with accusations. “You want him to be the male lead?”
“You’re just doing this to get back at me, aren’t you?!”
I almost laughed at the absurdity. “You never thought my scripts were worth anything, did you? What, regretting
it now?”
“And as for our so–called ‘bond‘–you’ve long since used it all up. What makes you think I owe you anything?”
Bruce’s lips parted, but no words came out. His expression softened, and his tone turned pleading.
“No, Ysabelle, it’s not like that… I was just joking. I never meant for it to turn out this way.”
I snapped my head toward him, my eyes burning with anger. “A joke?”
“Your idea of a joke was trampling on my dignity, grinding it into the dirt!”
“Your ‘joke‘ was making me run through a thunderstorm just to bring you and Gianna condoms! Pretending to
celebrate my birthday, only to use it as a setup to confess to her!”
“Your ‘joke‘ was mocking me in front of everyone, calling me your loyal dog, and then–offering to introduce me
to other men like I was some charity case!”
I took a step closer, voice cold as ice. “Tell me, Bruce–since when did pain become something funny to you?”
Bruce paled, his eyes widening in shock. It was as if, for the first time, he was truly realizing the weight of his
actions.
He opened his mouth, voice barely above a whisper.
“I… I’m sorry…” He reached out, fingers trembling, but before he could touch me, Terrence knocked his hand
away.
“Watch yourself,” Terrence said casually, his tone calm but filled with unmistakable warning. “Your girlfriend is

Bruce’s expression twisted as he shot Terrence a venomous glare. “This is between me and Ysabelle. Stay out of
I stepped between them, my face utterly devoid of emotion. “I was the fool who clung to the past. But I’ve paid my price.”
“From now on, we are strangers. We will never cross paths again.”
Bruce’s pupils dilated.
Panic flickered across his face–a rare and unfamiliar emotion for someone who had always been in control.
His throat bobbed, as if struggling to swallow the words forming on his tongue.
“You’re joking, right?” His voice was hoarse. “Never see each other again?”
Gianna, sensing the shift in his demeanor, quickly stepped forward and grabbed his arm.
“Ysabelle has found someone who loves her. You should be happy for her, Bruce,” she said with forced cheer clearly confused by his strong reaction.
But Bruce suddenly shoved her aside.
“Shut up!”
Gianna froze.
In all these years, Bruce doted on her and had never raised his voice at her.
For the first time, her face turned deathly pale. But Bruce no longer cared about her. His entire focus was on me.
After a long silence, he finally spoke again.
“Your grandmother left you in my care. How can I just watch you be with some nobody?”
