I hadn’t expected Bruce to be so full of himself, thinking I was still hopelessly devoted to him.
“You’re overthinking. This is just a coincidence,” I flatly replied.
“Coincidence?” Bruce repeated then pulled Gianna into his arms. “When have I ever had an audition where you
didn’t rush over to analyze my scenes? And now you want to call it a coincidence?”
out.
My fists clenched involuntarily.
Back then, every script Bruce received, I would read from beginning to end.
I would help him analyze characters, design unique gestures–small details that made his performances stand
It was because of this effort that, despite only landing a few supporting roles in A–tier productions, he had
already begun to rise in the industry.
Gianna let out a soft laugh. “Come on, Ysabelle, help Bruce out. If he makes it big, won’t you also benefit? You’ll
bask in the glory too.”
I raised an eyebrow. “You mean the oily kind of shine?”
Shaking the script in my hand, I added, “I’m only here to show the director the revised script.”
Bruce frowned, a flicker of doubt flashing across his eyes. “You? You actually managed to sell a script?”
Surprisingly, Gianna took a different approach. “You should be thanking Ysabelle. After all, you were just begging
the director to let you be the male lead in this very project.”
Realization dawned on Bruce. He truly thought I was here to help him secure the role.
Relaxing completely, he lounged back on the sofa, legs crossed, as if the matter was already settled.
No matter how much he and Gianna disliked me, they wouldn’t turn their backs on money.
This project was rumored to be an S–tier production. Even landing a supporting role could be a golden
opportunity.
I scoffed, staring at him with an expressionless face.
“And what makes you think I’d help you?”
Bruce abruptly stood up, taking a step toward me, and instinctively, I took a step back.
“You’re still mad?” he said in disbelief. “I won’t even argue with you about that fake boyfriend of yours. Jusk
to the director and-”
He looked at me arrogantly, basking in the certainty of his success.
Before I could retort, a deep voice sounded behind me.
“Who said I was fake?”
My body immediately stiffened. I didn’t even dare turn around.
The last time I saw Terrence was the night of our heated kiss.
Before I could completely lose myself, I had slipped away while he was out buying protection.

Now, he stood behind me, his voice carrying a trace of amusement as he leaned in close.
“Did you enjoy that night?” His warm breath brushed against my skin, sending a shiver down my spine. My face flushed crimson in an instant.
No need to explain–my reaction alone was evidence enough.
Bruce was no longer smiling. “You… you two…”
His gaze dropped to my neck and saw a faint, lingering red mark.
The realization struck him like a slap to the face.
“When did you two get together? Ysabelle, what have you been doing behind my back?!” Bruce thundered.
He stepped forward, visibly agitated, but Terrence blocked his path.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Who I’m with and what I do is none of your business.”
“And what exactly is our relationship, Bruce?”
“I have the freedom to be with whomever I choose.”
Saying that, I slipped my arm around Terrence’s.
Bruce’s face darkened,
Gianna stepped forward, grabbing his arm, her tone dripping with condescension. “Ysabelle, you really have no limits when it comes to making Bruce jealous.”
She gave Terrence a once–over, eyes scanning for any signs of wealth.
Finding none, she sneered.
“Randomly picking up some low–class man from the streets? Aren’t you afraid of catching something?”
“As his childhood friend, Bruce was only asking because he cares.”
I hadn’t expected Gianna to take this chance to step on me.
Bruce hesitated for a few seconds before agreeing. “That’s right! I just don’t want to see you fall into a pit.”
“This guy is clearly bad news!”
